I don't know if i'm allowed to post this/if it has already been posted

But a Christian anti-gay group have decided 'Heath Ledger is now in hell' because of his role in Brokeback Mountain and plan to protest over it at his funeral

http://community.livejournal.com/ohnotheydidnt/19627377.html

This is so infuriating. I am Christian myself, but telling other people how you think they should live their lives is just wrong. I hope his death teaches us a) that the media have gone too celebrity crazy b) gay people should not be discriminated against

I respect if you want to delete this post mods, but i am genuine in what i mean

I can't believe the coverage of this.
I bet some of his family found out on tv/internet before a call from a loved one.

^^ I heard his family heard from the media. Word travelled fast yesterday about his death. I still can't imagine doing errands when hearing a family member pasted away or hearing from the radio.

Heath's family : he did NOT commit suicide.

The family of Australian star Heath Ledger has rejected mounting speculation the actor committed suicide in his New York City apartment.
A police spokesperson confirmed sleeping pills - both prescription medication and non-prescription - were found in the vicinity of the actor's body. Officers have ruled out foul play.
In an emotional statement made by his father Kim today outside his home in Perth, Australia, he called Ledger's untimely death a "tragic and accidental passing."
His father described him as "a down to earth, generous, kind-hearted, life-loving and selfless individual who was extremely inspirational to many."
Kim continued: "Heath has touched so many people on so many different levels during his short life that few had the pleasure of truly knowing him."
Ledger's ex-fiancée Michelle Williams and their two year old daughter Matilda flew from a film set in Sweden to their home in Brooklyn following tragedy.
“You can't begin to imagine the state she's in,” an executive on the film told the Daily Mail.
Her father Larry Williams said: “It has just broken everybody's heart in my family. I think Tennyson got it right in the poem he described someone as having died at a young age but burning the candles at both ends. And oh what a beautiful flame he made. That was Heath.”
He said Ledger was devoted to the couple's daughter.
"The saddest thing is his daughter whom he just loved dearly. The Tennyson poem is just so true. His years were few but he left a beautiful legacy."

Heartbroken: In a statement, Heath's family, including father Kim and mother Sally with his sister Kate outside their home in Perth today, described the star as 'generous, kind-hearted and life-loving'

Father: Heath with his two-year-old daughter Matilda
"He adored his daughter Matilda, and when Michelle called it quits, he missed Matilda so much that he was thrown into a deep dark depression.
"Heath was living in New York to be close to his daughter.
"Jake is Matilda's godfather, and he and Heath had become really close since they did the film Brokeback together.
"Michelle will be devastated by the news, because she always hoped he would get help and they could manage to work out their relationship for the sake of their daughter.

I hope Jake Gyllenhall will grow to be like a father figure to Matilda. As he is her godfather,I truly hope he'll be there for her.

When I woke up earlier today it felt like I had had a bad dream, then I woke up to reality when I read the headlines.

Ehmm, isn't that the basis of Christianity though? And all religion for that matter?

:angry:It is such a joke that people can be that stupid, but that's Christian fundamentalism for you. I sincerely hope they won't be anywhere near his funeral.

The New York Post and Daily News are going full blast with their new theories on how he died. I just think it is poor taste.

I didn't read the article, but this is just terrible! Some people are so sick. I feel like I keep saying that, but so many things people have done (the media especially) have been making me SO angry! The way they are handling Heath's death is immoral! And now this?!? How can people be so cruel? I hate radical religious groups like this! Yes, there I said it. I HATE THEM!

I'm sorry but all of this is just making me so sad and upset... Heath was such a talented guy and I've been a fan of him since "10 Things I Hate About You" came out. He seemed like a genuinely nice guy, especially towards those he cared about, and I loved the fact that he was truly interested in being a good actor, and didn't get all caught up in the fame.

I just hate it when, on matters like that, people say "God says this". I mean do they know the sort of things Jesus did? he taught tolerance

Maybe this post will make me come off as super religious to some but i'm really not. It just really upsets me. I don't want to turn this into a whole religious debate

I said this on the other page, but I have to say it again:

I think we should just be thanking god that Heath had such a wonderful family around him during his time on earth.
His parents clearly loved him so much, as did Michelle and his daughter.

I'm happy to know, despite the horror of what has happened, Heath clearly must have known great, true love in his lifetime. He was loved very dearly, and I'm sure he loved back.

P.S, as for the Christian fundamentalist stuff... they're not true Christian. Not in my opinion. You cannot have Gods compassion in your heart with hatred like that eating your thoughts. They're sorry individuals.

Why do they have to keep showing his body being removed on the news? It's so horrible :( I heard the news on the radio around 11pm & I was devastated - I wasn't particularly a Heath fan, but of course I knew of him & his great acting. Such a sad loss at a young age - seeing pics of him & his daughter sadden me so much. RIP Heath...

Heath Ledger's Family Speaks Out on His Death

Heath Ledger's father Kim has spoken out following the shocking death of the 28-year-old actor Tuesday in New York. According to a statement from the family:

Heath's family confirms the very tragic, untimely and accidental passing of our dearly loved son, brother and doting father of Matilda. He was found peacefully asleep in his New York apartment by his housekeeper at 3:30 p.m. U.S. time.

We would like to thank our friends and everyone around the world for their well wishes and kind thoughts at this time. Heath has touched so many people on so many different levels during his short life but few had the pleasure of truly knowing him.

He was a down to earth, generous, kind-hearted, life-loving and selfless individual who was extremely inspirational to many. Please now respect our family's need to grieve and come to terms with our loss privately.
