Racial Diversity In Modeling

Last season there were three black girls to walk 10 or more shows in New York, this season there were 10! Alécia, Alice, Amilna, Aya, Binx, Imaan, Leomie, Lineisy, Maria, and Tami all walked 10 or more shows. Someone certainly got the memo.

^This makes me so happy! The real litmus test is Paris and Milan, but I'm glad these girls can take some momentum into Europe ^_^.

Add Ysaunny to the list with also 10 shows:flower:

Now that NYFW is over I have to say the diversity was felt. Overall a good season for models of color.

Thanks! I didn't have a showlist for Brandon Maxwell. That was actually the 10th show for Ysaunny, Leila, and Herieth bringing the number from 3 last season to 13 this season!

^ Add Aamito to that. She walked a total of 10 shows.

I'm happy with NY as well. So far, I'm seeing quite a number of Asian girls in London.

^Well, there was Hyun Ji, but she was the only one in a cast of 30+ models, which just makes me sad :(

NYC has been great with diversity, i agree. Also, lots of NATURAL HAIR!

This is a wonderful sight to see and seems to have continued on to London, at least the few shows that I've watched. Especially great after that news posted earlier in this thread about some hair stylists not knowing how to deal with different hair textures...

^ Could be Piergiorgio del Moro again. He also cast Simone Rocha, I believe and at both shows, the only MOC I saw was Hyun Ji.

London is either good or bad in terms of diversity, there has been a few shows were there has been two, one or none at all. Specifically Simone Rocha, David Koma, Mary Katranzou, Jasper Conran and Christopher Kane was borderline.

Personally I still like Russell Marsh casting decisions, but he needs some work in terms of MOCs especially black models it seems liked will only cast like one... which is unfortunate.

Shout out to Burberry for possibly being the only major brand that has truly embraced diversity.

Yeah, London hasn't been too kind to diversity. Its really sad, seeing as how London is so diverse as a country
