Great! I just bought another copy of Beautiful Fall to give my cousin for Christmas- she lived in Paris all during the 70s and she is a Chanel Girl; I'm sure it will mean a lot to her!
Any thoughts on David LaChapelle's Heaven to Hell book? i'm just thinking about getting one for christmas...does it worth the money? i'm not following his work, and i'm not a fan of him ,but i want to buy something interesting, something eye catching...i typed his name to google, and his pictures are pretty nice, sometimes tacky...
so...?
edit:Boomer!thanks for recommending me the Chanel book(collections and creations) i've bought it two months ago,and i love this book!
Not much text, but the images are def. worth the price, about 200 pages of full Thierry Mugler's work. Images from the runway, editorials and some photography by Thierry himself, and other photos taken specifically for the book.
(goodreads)
His photography book from 1989 is neat as well, but this one as many images that appear there as well.
His other book that just came out in 2010 is fantastic, it has more text and you get to know more about Thierry and where he got his inspirations.
Less pictures and smaller but it contains great detail shots. Several of his Haute Couture pieces were photographed again and in great detail for this book, you can really appreciate the craftsmanship even more.
There is this book called Deluxe that totally opened my eyes about how fashion brands are runned and managed.
Like how fashion really works and it's not only about creativity but also an industry.
But its very interesting because it talks also about the story of brands and groups,
I mean it's a light lecture, not a "business" one, there is a lot of "gossip"
just got this book - it's brilliantly written. highly recommended.
i've never been a versace fan but reading it remind me of gianni's impact on fashion world and the human aspect of fashion.
there are also some picture and it's full of insider information and little anecdotes. http://www.amazon.com/House-Versace...=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1267818818&sr=1-1

For all the people that live in the Netherlands and are looking for books about fashion designer: you should check out ""The American Book Center" in Amsterdam. It's a great place to find all kinds of books about fashion and of course other stuff. It can be find on Spui! Hope that helps.
