Riding boots

justlucky said:
Real, genuine riding boots are made to be really tight up the calf. The idea is that you'll break them in and they'll loosen just enough to be comfortable (as anyone who rides knows, putting on new boots requires quite a bit of pulling:lol: ).

If you're going to be wearing them out, though, getting them looser is a good idea.

The reason I bring this up is because I know some people on the boards were looking at real boots sold to people who ride, and I didn't want anyone to freak out of they had to order an extra-wide calf in order to get the right fit for everyday wear.

thanks for the extra advice! should point out was speaking of boots as fashion wear;As a rider myself I know the importance of a snug fitting pair of boots!

has anyone seen chanels take on the riding boot? I actually happen to love them...they are quite expensive though....

Any thoughts?
For the price chanel are charging, you could buy a really good genuine pair of riding boots plus a couple of pairs of cheap high street imitations for everyday use or;take some riding lessons! And put those boots to good use!

No, I'm thinking about buying them, but I can't decide about the shape.

Fortunately, there are currently a plethora of variations on the Riding style boot, and will undoubtedly be many more,(as in trhe 80's);so if in doubt, keep looking;Better to wait for the right pair, ebay also has a wide selection of 80's boots;lots of bargains!

If you think that contemplating your spring wardrobe while there's still snow on the streets of Manhattan qualifies you as fashion forward, think again. The seriously stylish are already anticipating fall and, more specifically, the Big Fall Question—i.e., what is the perfect footwear to complement the sleek leggings that were so prevalent on the New York runways? One very good answer comes courtesy of Zero Maria Cornejo, where models sported glossy leather riding boots from Omaha, Neb.'s Dehner Co. Also prepped for a partnership with Michael Kors, Dehner is the go-to boot maker for the equestrian set: Its boots come in five widths, three heights, and multiple leathers, which means they're like custom-made pieces at off-the-rack prices. Now that's fashionable.

Thanks for the lovely pictures and article Avant Garde! Karma for you!

I am loving the riding boots at Zero (as posted above), looks lovely with a miniskirt or a minidress and tights in a contrasting shade (like shades of vanilla, soft grey)...

Naturalizer is having a HUGE boot sale and their riding boots are dirt cheap right now. THere's this one pair I'm eyeing thats about $40 but I can't get it since they don't deliver to PO Box's. I'm so depressed. I want these so so so so so bad. Here's a pic:
