Roberto Cavalli S/S 11 Milan

I am in awe of the quality of the details and embellishments. No words.

Having got that out of my system, as I was going through HQs, I was thinking of the amount of modifications to be done before these clothes going to production in order for "sellable" pieces to arrive at the boutiques, given the impossibility to pull off any of these looks for 99.9% of real women.

And then I see this:

I think after the HQ, thanx for them btw, i really adore all the details on the dresses, i think it looks amazing.

It really is. I think it's extremely luxurious.

Thanks for the HQs! Can the details on these pieces get any more intricate? You can tell, the craftsmanship behind the gowns, accessories, everything is such good quality. And the prints, oh gosh, the prints are just so luxurious.

After seeing it up-close, I actually found this really appealing. Beneath the sea of fringe lies the superb prints and detailing paired with sexy heels.

You've got to commend Cavalli for sticking to fringe and snakeskin when the trend is minimalism.

Cavalli has practically always stuck up for what he knows best. Look at everyone else, the rest of Milan is going for bold bright colors but still with minimal detail and design. And then look at Cavalli, everything screams exotic, sexy, wild, glamorous.
Can anyone else imagine the editorials with this collection? Stunning.

I love this. It's tackily luxe with sexiness not attention wh*re. And those details are spectacular! He is still for a reason and that reason is that he doesn't afraid to do something daring and stick to it. It's a bit of tacky, sexy, bohemian and gorgeousness. It's Cavalli. I absolutely adore this collection. The color is so great. The palette goes along with those minimalism collection but here there's lots of details. I surprisingly love the python prints. It doesn't look scary.

I guess Roberto will always be stuck in 2001 but I was optimistic he'd continue riding the glorious trashy bohemia of last season.

I'm usually not a fan of his work - but I love this. The models look great and the collection shows how talented he is (which I think many have forgotten about over the years).

Its not bad. Cavalli sure went all out for the anniversary. I felt some of the pieces were a little too much but thats typical. The models do looks amazing and super fierce.

It's like the collection was specially made for that tacky person named Shakira. And I hate it :S

To be honest, I really love this collection.

Like others have mentioned before, there's something very genuine about this collection. It's so singular, so focused and so committed that I can't imagine why anyone can really fault Cavalli. Plus, the craftsmanship is so breathtaking and inspiring.

But even beyond the clothes, the styling is attractive, the hair is magnificent, the set is so glamorous, and the music is rather effecting...especially the closing song. It's very dramatic and somehow contextualizes the collection and pushes it farther into something more emotional and serious...and then it melts into "Edge of Seventeen" and everyone is looking gorgeous all together!

Really great collection.

These are nice pieces but it all seems a bit too repetitive. I feel like I'm looking at the same pair of pants and dresses come down the runway each time. It's almost too cohesive in that it doesn't really grow or go anywhere. This is the Cavalli that I love though. I just wish he was a bit more consistent in his aesthetic these days.

There is something that is off about this collection, for the most part I liked the tops, but most of the bottoms looked unrefined, undesigned and almost like an afterthought.

Having said that, over time I am coming to appreciate Cavalli's talent and contribution to fashion and think that he is more influential and directional than he is given credit for. For me, his collections can be hit or miss, which could be due to bad judgement, laziness or poor editing; risk taking that did not pay off or stuff that fashion is not yet ready for.
