All this talk of poseurs, but I agree with the few who mentioned that most rock is now "fake". The creation of the scene, of hipsters, of the "new rock revolution" as announced by the NME, has all helped in ridding us of being genuine. I don't understand the particular anger towards these newer styles. I really feel that there are serious divisions in types of "rock'n'roll". Caling certain variations on rock style fake or poseur-esque seems silly. It's like saying that there's only type of sexy, and that's Marilyn Monroe, and everyone who tries to look sexy in a different way is wrong.

If you are talking about style - yes, I agree. If you are talking about substance - I disagree. I don't see how you can accept for yourself something that you see as fake - wouldn't that be betraying yourself?

I am really not a fan at all, even the hipster poster boy Pete Doherty AND the Dior Homme SS 06 show is heavily fake.

For rock n roll outfits, I'd much rather get inspiration from the streets or from "authentic" rockers....

I don't like faux rockers that wear skulls everywhere, with their wrist "warmers", a few tattoos here and there, black nail polish, ultra pricey hair cut, and Dior homme scarf... I don't find that very rock n roll.....

Most of the boys I meet in London do dress like that, though. Whether their bands are actually successful, or they're just sleeping on friends floors or living over the pubs they work at, they really do dress like that. They get their hair cut at the Toni&Guy training schools, and would rather not be able to afford food than not be able to buy smart clothes. It's not phony, there really is an entire crop of neo-dandies springing up. The clothes in Hedi Slimane's line reflect what he really saw in east London.
