Ryan Gosling

Just saw "Blue Valentine"...I love Ryan in this film, his acting and Charisma. I think he styled himself in this film also:lol:

Here is some exciting news about Ryan Gosling and his standing in Hollywood, this is from deadlinehollywood.com, very respected industry website. Ryan has a great future ahead of him!

Here's how fast things move in Hollywood. At Cannes, I got my confirmations and revealed that Ryan Gosling would direct and star in MGM's remake of The Idolmaker. Now, a couple weeks later, I get to report that he's had to back out of the picture, at least for now. He just informed the studio he would be too busy. He's in pre-production on A Place Beyond the Pines, which reteams him with Blue Valentine director Derek Cianfrance, and then Gosling moves immediately into the Ruben Fleischer-directed Gangster Squad, starring with Sean Penn and Josh Brolin in the period crime drama for Warner Bros. MGM is convinced that Idolmaker is a plum project and the studio and will continue developing the picture. If Gosling is available, they will revisit it down the line. It is fun to watch Gosling's transformation from darling of the independent film set to arguably the most coveted young leading man for studio films. After turning down lead roles in recent years I've heard included Superman, Jack Ryan, Akira and The Lone Ranger, Gosling is suddenly giving the studios a chance. He impressed the Cannes set with the Nicolas Refn-directed Drive, and Warner Bros is offering him everything after testing Crazy, Stupid, Love, with the studio getting Gosling to reteam with Refn in a remake of Logan's Run. It looks like MGM will have to find another star for its Idolmaker, the remake of the Taylor Hackford-directed film that starred the late Ray Sharkey as a music promoter.

Thanks for that kobro22!

But ugh, I was looking foward to that project - he spent years talking about that fiction/documentary project he wanted to direct based on the LRA, there was a Rachel McAdams profile way back in the day that mentioned he expressed interest in directing "The Time Traveler's Wife", he consistely talked about wanting to crossover in his interviews... Let's just say at this point I'm super curious about the pospect of him finally being behind the camera.

oh i don't doubt for a second that it's only matter of years (or even less) before he stands behind the camera for the first time. he's got so much stuff juggling at this point and is so good in all of them (i loved, loved, loved DMB's album), he's quickly turning into a prodigy.

I truly believe that Ryan Gosling is an absolutely brilliant actor, I think he is the best of his generation. But don't you guys think that it is a bit soon for him to direct, he never had any formal training, and he hasn't really even worked with any of the masters of cinema, the bulk of his work is in independent cinema. I just wish he still focused a bit on the acting and like Deniro cross over in his 40's.

oh no! i totally agree with you, i was just referring to the fact he does lots of diverse stuff already (and getting praised for it), so i wouldn't be surprised if he starts directing too (he recently did shot those short movies while filming Ides of March tho..the ones he posted on twitter). he's just entering his most prominent part of his acting career IMO.

^Oh yeah I remeber those little shorts (by the way is he still on twitter?).

I am so excited about Gangster Squad, two of my favorite actors in a movie, Sean and Ryan, I cannot wait for these two to square off.

I love the fact that Ryan has refused to do any of these comic book movies, he refuses to do a pay check movie. And also he understands how important it is for an actor to keep a low profiel and avoids the whole fame game.

^Yeah I totally remeber that (although I am trying to erase that from my memory), he really dodged a bullet there. I was shocked when he was linked to her, but (and I'm speculationg here) Blue Valentine was released by Harvey Weinstein so the mentions in Page Six were planted by Harvey probably to garner interest in the project. Although yeah I know they had a date but there is no way Ryan would be a willing participant in her pr strategy. So I think we can forgive and forget.

What was the quote?

^LOL! Yeah you know he's Canadian they are very polite people. Proves what a great actor he is that he was able to sell that line.

Do you really think he took her to a date at Disneyland? I think he just met her there. I mean he goes there all the time, Blake does too. Ryan was there with his assistant/friend. I doubt he would take his assistant with him on a date with another girl lol.

^ I voted! I can't believe he's not on the list, but then again, his dress sense is more modern and hipster-ish while VF is more conservative in their tastes.

bit off topic, but she went to visit him in Canada too at the time, so there was some kind of hookup def. short, but there was something. :flower:

as for the twitter- he hasn't been active on it since april, so dunno what are his plans with it, tho DMB had an also active twitter account at the time their album was dropped and during the short tour.

@Chillchaser, thanks for the heads up I will definitely cast a vote for Ryan! Ugh Vanity Fair sucks how can they not iclude him?!?

@dajreksh thanks for the info about the twitter. The thing with Ryan there is no way that Ryan would agree to the pr shenanigans that for some reason Leo is participating in currently with Blake.

oh yeah i remember that, just didn't (want to) believe that cause I thought she was somewhere else at the same time. Not that there is something wrong with beeing with her, I actually like her expect for all the pr thing that is going on :yuk: But sorry this is OT.

I can't believe he is not on the Vanity Fair list. That is wrong. He is def. one of the best dressed men around today.

I voted for him on the Vanity Fair list. I love his style.
There's really no one else that dresses like him...that's what I love about it! :)

In reference to his fashion sense, I love that unlike a lot of male actors he actually makes an effort, muchlike Brad Pitt recently. He takes risks and you see that he is having fun with fashion, yet he still comes across as totally masculine.

He looks nice @ the mtv awards
leather jacket, blue pants and red socks :)
