S/S 2009 Ad Campaigns (please read post #1 before posting)

Really? I thought Kloss was the odd one out. Actually, ALL three don't mix well to me. It's like they picked the models names from a designer hat Lol.

lol! in short, IT'S A WEIRD CAST! you would think Natasha Poly is the no-brainer for Dolce ads since she opened all their shows.

Wow. Jessica Stam's campaigns are dwindling down all the way from Dior to Giorgio Armani to GAP? I feel sorry for her.

Also Coco Rocha? From Balenciaga to Dior to Phi to De Beers? Yikes.

And sadly, Anja Rubik! She went from doing so many TOP campaigns to GAP?!

I hate this financial crisis! It means no established [expensive] models and all newer models! It's not fair! :innocent:

its sort of like the dior campaign with Coco, Stam and Kasia... I don't think that turned out that well either.. but then again the latest dior ads have all been lackluster..

I agree. Big models and sh*** camapigns.

Well like was posted a few pages back, there are still several big campaigns to be spoken for-Chanel, JPG, Valentino, Versace as the four biggest in my eyes-and of them, all but JPG are confirmed to not be new girls, at least from what I gathered from that post at TI. Valentino and Versace generally ONLY use the more established girls, Cat McNeil being an exception since she was newer on the scene when she got her Versace ad.

Then again, it could also be a money factor. Newer girls probably equal less money.

That being said, I am overjoyed about Hanne for Balenciaga, as she suits it to a T. Kick out the rest of the cast, and just have it be an OG ad with her.

really sad sad sad situation..... here in italy they keep on saying the crisis is quite big in the fashion field, too. so it's clear that they are gonna use little-less famous-less paid models. but i don't know if this is only a speculation or will be totally true.

I dont mind seeing new unknown models. I love seeing new faces, as long as they suit the label and its aesthetic. But on the other hand I hate not seeing my favourite older models like Jess Stam, Daria and Hilary.

I Think It'd Be Better Hire A Great Model Such As Coco, Hilary R., Daria Or Sasha Who Sell The Clothes For Theirself And Not Unknow New Girls, Because When You See An Ad And Is Featured By A Known Model You Stop And Look At It!

^Yeah you're right, but we cant always stay on the same old models forever.
We need change.... I smell a new presidential election.

...

it would be easier for me to decipher those supermodel.nl lists if they'd start with the brand instead of the model. 99% of those names mean NOTHING to me (and i'm proud of that. i'm about FASHION. not MODELS.)

According to what Diana Farkhullina said in her thread, the Balenciaga shots are going to be single, not mixed. I'm a bit disappointed, as I really was hoping to see some group pics :(

I don't mind change. But all these new girls look alike to me. Never mind the actual quality of their print work. Hilary, Sasha, Daria - you look in their eyes, and you are instantly mesmerized. I look at Anna J, and keep walking.

I think people that said this is a reflection of the economy are right. It's not even about paying less money to create ads. It's about the ads themselves appearing less luxurious, and the product being perceived as more attainable.

Good point. I guess we won't see a lot of artsy (for fashion) campaigns next season.
On saving money by picking new girls: I guess paying eight new girls as a background does not save you anything. :innocent:

I know every model has a very short window to make it big and take up every opportunity that she can but I think it's very unwise and premature of Toni's agents to let her scoop up this many campaigns in one season, I don't think they're thinking long term. She's gonna have a huge burn out next season when designers realise it was a catastrophe using so many models in their campaigns. She can never realistically repeat this level of success. Everyone's gonna be like "remember how successful she was in SS09". It'll be even worse for Anna J.

The same thing happened to Catherine McNeil, everyone wanted her,but her agent decided to pace her career out, but she still over did it. Now she's only doing cruise/resort campaigns, which is sad because I thought she'd be the one model who could maintain the momentom. At least she has Gap, every model's Default campaign. Now imagine the hysteria around Catherine but times ten for Toni, she could disappear very quickly into oblivion soon. Let us not forget she who shall not be named *aigroeg tsorf*.

i think people think of them as a bit old style right now.so you go new or old but not last year its to soon.also to much money in todays economy, not worth it.also those girls dont really want to work anyway ,to many demands
and to much drama.

Gemma, Sasha, Daria and Natalia V make too many demands and have too much drama?

Right. In any case, all of those girls except Gemma have fragrance/lingerie/cosmetic campaigns so they're not exactly hard up.

What is up with all the Gemma talk? She's mainly an actress nowadays right? I don't expect her in any campaign tbh...

^ Gemma has been taking a break. I don't see how she comes into play this season at all.

You would be surprised, a lot of the more commercial campaigns pay just as much if not more.
