This is Chanel FW1994 on steroid with 2 Tom Ford SS2015 dresses and two Balenciaga inspired dresses (the last two). He added a bit of Chanel FW1996 in the mix...

I guess the most YSL thing about this are the boots and the sleeveless tops.

It turns out that the sleeveless tops are my favorite thing about the collection. Very Couture...And the gold Chanel jacket is fabulous.

I wonder if Anthony is going to own those Karl for Chanel references. Even the Griproix jewelry are there...

I guess the collection is fine even if I feel like his POV of YSL is quite limited. To do a Chanel collection is kinda lazy....

I wish he would inject more of himself into the brand. I think he took more risk with design at his namesake.

All I see is styling, true creation where? This is like a group of girls that went to one of their grandparents' summer home, their bags got lost and all they've got to wear now are some moth-eaten fake Chanel jackets and the swimsuits they bought at the beach.

Swimwear as clothing has never been anything other than trashy, all I can think of is how difficult it must be to use the restroom...at least do them in knits á la Alaïa. I really don't understand how is this a fall show, maybe they want to focus on the southern hemisphere?

What a difference a budget makes. I found many of the separates appealing. I liked the fur-trimmed skirts with the embellished waistband, many of the blouses including the one that has the ruffled neckline (look 37), and the use of sheer- very YSL circa 1966.

However, I simply cannot get over the Coco references. What could possibly be his angle with those nearly identical Chanel jackets? Such a literal translation is questionable, to say the least. And those bodysuits!?! So tacky; everyone from Abercrombie to Kim K. is capitalizing on this trend. So odd in my honest opinion.

which also makes me wonder: this ‘recent’ Chanel copycatism since Herr Lagerfeld died... is it because no one dared copy him whilst he was alive (because for sure he’d tore them apart even if Gucci’s Michele was already doing it...) or are they showing the Wertheimer’s ‘look we can do Chanel too’? because we all know Virginie won’t last long...

I agree, I am no fan of Hedi but even he has fortunately evolved. While I do not like his latest collections, they still resonate with the current times better than this. This looks and feels so 2008 or 2009 and not in a good way. Also, skeletal teenage girls dressed in trashy clothes are not sexy in any way or form, it's sad. YSL referenced Parisian prostitutes of the 40s but these were confident, strong women of the world, and the clothes reflected that. Interestingly that highly influential collection was exactly 50 years ago. Vaccarello could have done a homage to it.

This is fabulous. It feels very right for the now because it manages to incorporate in that early 2000s-meets-2020s color palette and sexy silhouettes that's becoming en vogue again. Would totally wear that Chanel look-alike fur jacket and pink iridescent skirt look + gold long sleeve crop top and gold low rise pants look if I was a girl. I would much prefer Vaccarello at Chanel after this collection. In addition, the casting and setting is perfect, the models look stunning and genuinely cool (and perfectly healthy).
