Saint Laurent Mens S/S 2015 Paris

some of it is a bit too much woodstock caricature.
however there are a couple of great suits and, as usual, some really nice outerwear.

oh ok. so that is what is the latest trend in California indie scene ?
i get it.

the last and only time i wore a poncho was in mid-school. no it wasn't the carnaval. i just thought it would be cool with the boots my dad got me at the time.

congrats! you wore it before it was cool

that was cool at this time. midschool was a long time ago for me.

and if Hedi Slimane puts it on a runway means it's already cool somewhere. Mr. Slimane is a stylist, not a designer. He just hangs out with people and takes what he likes to put it on the runway. that's as simple and easy as this.

but not a lot of people are exposed to the things that he likes. so in a way, by him doing so, he putting the focus on those things that people seemed to either overlooked or underlooked

I like the clothes, could do without the flashes of women's outfits. :flower:

Good lawd, this is horrid, his styling is always the same old same old.
Take some homeless looking people living under a bridge and make them wear jeggings and some hippy tunics lol.

This collection is a slow burn, a complicated attempt to infuse modernity with the soul and spirit of the past.

The styling, while not effortless, is commendable, still, for fusing basics with extraordinary pieces that suggest a kind of localized artistry and handicraft. His Saint Laurent has a hard shell that protects a lush, irrational sensuality, revealing itself through the handmade, the individual, limited edition, or one of a kind. And all the imperfections, the bumps, scratches, bruises, mismatched eyes on the models makes it feel all the more real. It is interesting to see him evolve and become more coherent with a message that is becoming all the more seductive and, also, more reflective of what I think YSL always tried to infuse into his designs: a yearning, a desire so strong that it couldn't possibly be fulfilled.

I guess Slimane's clothes can only be worn in California then, as I don't see men walking around like this in any other part of the world to be honest. And I travel a lot in European cities.

I can assemble a "for less" look within a couple of round trips to topman, forever21, H&M...

Not too good though, I guess even if they missed out certain items for the show and sent an intern to the nearest Forever21 to pick out something similar (yes, designers do do that at only the most extreme of the emergencies), no one would have noticed it anyway.

This is really nothing new. The designs are already in the store now.

Say what you will about Hedi's work at SLP, but his work at YSL and Dior Homme basically changed mens fashion and turned it into something actually important. Even if every other collection he ever designs is mediocre, his previous accomplishments alone would make him far from the the worst "fashion designer" ever.

Oh, and the blankets are actually unique and sophisticated. Here's a close up of one of them:

*DON'T QUOTE IMAGES*

Yeah I know about the groundbreaking times Slimane did with YSL and Dior Homme. But what really irks me is that he is stuck in that time period. And he does not really experiment or try different cut and fit when it comes to the bottoms. It's always ultra slim which is very tiresome.

But I must say that the Granny Squares are definitely interestingly sophisticated up-close!

I think I won't make too many judgement before I see the real clothes. I believe he rework the clothes with new fabric and embroideries to create a luxury touch. He has a particular preference of fabric and I believe those clothes are pretty nice in reality. The show can't see much of it. Even it's predictable, it's not bad and so different from other show

As much as I love Hedi, it's so hard seeing this repeatedly kind of silhouette and styling every season especially menswear. Since when that Saint Laurent is Mick Jagger's clothes.

This outft is so cool
