Sarah Burton - Designer, Creative Director of Givenchy

im just excited to see that she accepted to be in Givenchy. I really thought after mcqueen, she wouldnt do any other brands anymore. I hope that her tenure at givenchy is for the long run. Her experimentation could take years and it is beautiful to see her designs evolve from year to year. For me, no one does menswear as good as her. Its always the right mix of frou/craftmanship and masculinity. It never goes too womenswear or too formalwear. I do think Givenchy is a great brand for her accesories to Shine. Mcqueen was never really a brand people gravitated towards to for leather goods but the few she made were really good and could have been bigger had she made them for a brand known for accesories. With Givenchy, i think she might be able to come up with some covetable bags and accesories.

I wonder if the suits ever took notice of MGC ripping of her mcqueen for dior?

I'm excited for her Givenchy. With Givenchy, he himself didn't have a particular stronglook & style to his work, so I think that should give Sarah more freedom to craft her own vision of who the Givenchy person is. She won’t have to worry about all that “c’s of the h..” (HATE that phrase), because, as far as I can tell, there weren’t any. (But im sure that cute Henry guy would say otherwise.)

If there is one thing I am not worried about her appointment is her capacity to deliver a strong menswear which is in a dire situation since CWK.

I am rooting for her anyway. I love Sarah Burton and happy for her to evolve beyond McQueen.

It is said that Sarah B is not involved, but it seems that LVMH is being very supportive of the Trumps this time in addition to the two LV and Dior sets for Melania she hasn't worn that yslforever mentioned in the other thread.
