Scandinavian Street Style #1

the only problem i sometimes have with scandinavian style is that ppl seem to clash colours all the time and some just over-do it...

I know what you mean, that and: "lets just mix all different prints and fabrics together to get a completly unique look, it doesn't matter if it looks good as long as it's different"

but I got to say that I think that the way people dress in stockholm now has improved sooo much :)

^ "lets just mix all different prints and fabrics together to get a completly unique look, it doesn't matter if it looks good as long as it's different"

I agree but maybe in their eyes, dressing that way looks good. It's just a matter of taste.Actually it's not easy to play with prints and colors, people overdo it most of the time.

yeah ofcourse you're right I didn't mean it like that =), everyone has their own taste but I know some people here who are too much into looking different than just looking good and comfortable in their style

^ i think there should be some boundaries with mixing patterns together (ie. hearts, stripes, plaid, polka dots in one ouftit), otherwise you will end up looking like a clown.. you can be unique with more classic look as well...colors are fun but looking like a rainbow is more like funny. :D

i cant stand it when people try too hard to be different..

saann and miss6o,both of you are so right.People who try too hard to be different lost their own identity. They stand out and impress people, but not in a good way.

^yep, thanks for the new pics, :flower: For some reason I really like the outfit that the second to last girl is wearing in post #1729

About the clashing colors and patterns, it really depends on where you live, I don't see or know that many people who do it where I live. here everything pretty much has to match. gold belt + gold shoes + gold bag with a purple dress etc. That is rather tiresome, especially with everyone doing it.. I would appreciate more colors, and more imaginative color combinations.
I guess that when using colors it's often the 'matchy-matchy' way or the 'throw everything together' kinda way as fairy and saann mentioned...

I know I'm using a generalization here. But you get my point...

no problem guys :)

the second to last girl does have a cool outfit but for some reason her jeans look painfull..

^^ I've said it before and I'll say it again, but personally I'm pretty tired of seeing every girl wear these baggy, saggy dresses in boring shades of black, grey, green, brown etc that make everyone look +10kg bigger.

I quite disagree. They aren't baggy and saggy. They're cut volumnously on pourpose. They're not about exposing the body, but about playing with proportions, shape and movement. It's beautiful to see the flow and movement of fabric when a girl is walking in one of those dresses. They don't make the girls look 10 kg. heavier. In fact it is pretty hard to pull off that oversize-look if you're not in fact pretty thin, as it is all about the the extra fabric. To me there's nothing sexier than a girl with a well-cut oversized dress and long, slender legs. That being said, there's a difference between wearing a dress that is 3 sizes too big, and wearing a dress that is cut volumnously on pourpose.

And I know that the word 'volumnously' doesn't exist, but I can't find any better word, and I think most people get the meaning. ^_^

Scandinavia is the IT place for the true latest fashion no other place has gotten it so right as Svandinavia does now. They are sooooo trendy and have the best up to date style and merchandise I'm soo jealous!
