There used to be a store downtown that sold Miyake but I can't remember the name. It was near Betsey Johnson and across the street from the old Barney's location. I'm not sure if it is still there. Can one buy Issey Miyake in Seattle?

This is what I don't understand. Maybe a native can explain this to me.
What's wrong with carrying a cute umbrella?
Isn't that far better than having to wear a gortex REI type jacket to protect one from the rain? Then one can wear something fashionable!
when it rained for about 30 days straight (close to, but not, setting a record ), i noticed that people began to carry an umbrella. especially as it was the drenching kind of rains, and not the usual drizzle.
but usually, it is just a drizzle. not worth caring about. who wants to carry one every day for 6 months for a little bit of dampness?
also, where i live, you take up a lot of sidewalk space with an umbrella. if everyone carried one, we'd not all fit on the sidewalk!
and, i think in real adverse weather, no one cares what anyone looks like.
