Alma (21)
"I like second hand markets because you can find extraordinary and stunning things there. I'm interested in colours. Combining colours is a kind of extension of chromatics for me. It's a great fun, too."
Alma is wearing two second hand skirts and a Chinese winter coat.

Mika (24)
"It's hard to describe my style. I like rock but I don't like to be categorized by my taste for music.
This cap is my favorite. I like all my sneakers, too. I always wear Converse. I recently discarded a huge amount of my clothes. There were quite terrible pieces amongst them!"

i know people are demanding pics outside finland but just keeping this thread alive ^_^ i hope that someone could post other pics as well than just helsinki or finland..

Thanks for posting & keeping the thread alive while waiting for new pics from other Scandinavian countries!

its nice to see that helsinki has people who dress so well.. i agree with some people though maybe these creatures come out only at night because i havent seen too many people dressing this good in helsinki. i guess you have to go to the right places then..i live near tampere and the best dressed can be found from club yo-talo... ill try to post some pics of me and my friends later :)

ive seen this guy in my town...

i know this guy too, its ville.. he comes to my city tampere a lot heheh..he is fab! they both go to yo-talo (best club in tampere and whole finland music, people and style wise)

pics from hel-looks.com

can you guys tell me what helsinki club are those pics from???

I know Ville as well. ^_^

They're from Liberté? I might be wrong but I think they're from Liberté. Because I kind of remember Ville & Karita (both pictured on that night) telling me that they were asked for the picture for hel-looks.

well i wouldn't say that people dress bad either (well of course some but in general). i think that the problem is that people dress sort of "safe". they don't dare to dress up in their own way and end up looking the same. it's not stylish but it isn't unstylish either.. people are just simply boring in finland and they all look like those dressup-dolls in h&m.

then we of course have these people who dare

And I think one reason why people in Finland dress up boring and in the same way is that the ones who buy clothes in the stores are afraid to buy in colourful and different kinds of clothes.
I live in quite a small city/town and I have searched for spring jacket for two weeks now (From my town + couple of other towns as well). And there are two or three kinds of jackets in the stores and mostly only in three or four colour (black, white, army green, beige). That's really awful and boring. It's spring! I want something colourful!!

people want to be different but as we are so depended on other peoples thoughts, we are afraid to buy the bright yellow shirt or pink jacket.. what if someone looks at you in a weird way? ;>

Hehe.
I think people should stop trying to be different. If we all were just ourselves the world would be full of different people (for real). Now most of the people are just trying to prove how original and personal they are. And of course they're original etc. but it's not believable (it's rather ridiculous) because they're trying too hard. :(

i do agree.
when they are trying so hard to be so different, they end up being the same..

i agree with you guys.. i think in finland people dont really wanna show individual style.. i see those vero moda girls walking everywhere.. i think people dress nicer in helsinki than most of the places in finland (definately!) but its all a bit boring and safe like you said. these people show more uniqueness in their style. i try to dress this way and i get weird looks sometimes.. but i dont care.. at least i dare! hehhehe

i think nothings better than shocking people with how you dress.. in style of course :D i would take it as a compliment when people look at you.. although the look is weird, but it's at least an opinion

yeah its true.. :) i kinda like to shock too! at least im an individual and not the same generic robot that i see replicas of all the time on the streets... im trying to make finland more fashionable place hehee.. but as we see from the pics there are people out there with individuality and good style. i try to be one of them too

maybe we are slowly turning to a fashionable country. at least i really do hope so

Adi, I love the two last looks in post 335. Those looks are truly stylish to me. I'm so tired of the scene/skinnny jean look here. Those two have innate looking style!

^I have to agree with you. I myself love skinny jeans, but paired with converse or van's... so tedious!
