It's so refreshing so see the Scandinavian Streetstyle, it's totally different from my hometown. Here the people don't seem to be brave enough to try different things. It's always just boring or too much of running after a trend. A friend of mine stayed in Stockholm for one year and she was so impressed by the streetstyle. After seeing the pictures it makes me wanna fly to one of the Scandinavian countries.

the boots are vintage pertti palmroth's, a great find for 10 euros from my town. I own a pair too which are black but not the same shape.. mine look very 70s/80s.. something prince would wear and are hard to walk in... hhehehhee

try yesterday behind the metso library and some flea markets.. such as radio kirppis in the "harbor", down the hill from keskustori. but yesterday is the best vintage store in tampere for sure!! the lady is crazy but youll find anything you want there its a small place, perhaps hard to find..dont get too excited about certain items or she will price it higher. ask also whats on sale.. like my friends boots were..

Maybe it is different from where you live, but believe me when I say that all the Finns look the same, and finding people who actually dress well is hard. Honestly, if you'd be here seeing it yourself you'd believe. Secondly, Finns are not fashion forward at all. We don't even have a chance since there are no interesting/designer shops or fashion magazines or fashion photography or good Finnish designers.

Fashion is like a joke here. Plus it seems to be part of being Finnish that you can't dress...it really is just thought to be like that everywhere here.

hmm.. i think in scandinavia its more about the comfort factor.
about finns.. well, i think in my town (tampere) and in helsinki i see lots of people wearing nice clothing and actually making an effort when they get dressed. even older people....

I disagree with WhiteLinen... Atleast where I'm from people dress quite nicely and there's a lot of people interested in style and fashion. I was discussing with my friend yesterday and you can find designer stuff quite easily in Finland if you just bother. Or then order online... So I think Finns are developing a lot, I wouldn't label us as people who have no taste in clothes whatsoever. But yeah, clothes are just clothes. In bigger perspective there's a lot of more important things in life

I've said this before, but beeing in Denmark for the last 3 days has made me even more sure of this;
Danes have far better style than any norwegian, swede or finn. The girls are so feminine, and dress extremely well. I spent 3 days in Ålborg and I didn't once see a girl in sneakers(if you don't count 'Kawasaki's' wich seems to be a big hype over there. It seems every 14 year old girl owns a pair).
In a Norwegian or Swedish town you'll see stylish people, but the majority will be dressed rather dull.

I stood in the middle of the street in Ålborg, and to check if my theory was correct, I watched the people walking past me. I think I saw 7 girls that was dressed boring. The rest was very well-dressed and/or very stylish. It would be a mekka for a street style photographer.

I've been to a lot of countries, but this was truly unique. Denmark is definitly the best dressed nation in my opinion.

Wow, does Ålborg have stylish people? I'm impressed, in my circle of acquaintances the general consensus is that Jutlanders hardly know how to dress stylish, but then again, it has been years since my last visit in Jutland, so I might have to revise my opinion on Jutland and fashion.

About dressing great in Aalborg, I don't agree. To me everyone looks the same. It seems like you have to own a d&g undershirt to be something, and if you are really cool you own multiple of them and you wear two at once.

Though I must say it has been improving the last 6 month or so. Now I see about 2 people a day which I think looks great.

Why won't I ever see any stylish Finns here in Helsinki? Everyone's just about "alternative" / "indie" / "arty party" - style...and they all look the same.

depends of course what everyone calls stylish. trend oriented or unique look?

but as we have seen from the pics from around scandinavia the indie/vintage style is definately taking over scandinavia mixed with clean cuts, good materials and shapes that we have always loved.

i guess i go a little to the indie genre but i consider myself cleaner than most of the kids..think kate moss/pete doherty style for example. hehe

I visited Jylland a few months ago and didn't see that many stylish people (I was living in Copenhagen at the time). Don't get me wrong, many people were dressed "well," just not particularly "stylish," in my opinion. Copenhagen is absolutely the best city in Denmark when it comes to fashion and style. I've seen some stylish girls on Fyn (i Odense) though!

That was just the thing.

In Norway all you see is girls with denim mini-skirts, leggings and ballet flats, but when I came to Denmark I saw basically none. They we're all dressed much more individual and and we're all much more well-dressed.
