Have you ever considered putting up an online store for your fashion creations?

Would you rather sell them at a boutique?

Do you mean opening your own boutique ... or just selling or consigning them to existing boutique(s)?

i'd rather sell at a boutique if possible, less logistics.. more fun

but the problem is that for new or 'indie' designers most boutiques (all over europe) ask for consignment (sp?) its the new >horrible< retail trend over here..

How about having your own boutique and at the same time, online store?

I think the advantage of online store is that wont have monthly rental and utilities expenses. It can also reach international market.

If I where to choose I guess I would choose to open a boutique (more social, etc.), but as you mentioned in your above post I think it would be a good idea to have both.

definitely both!

the web is good for marketing, spreading the word of your product to farther distances.
then also, if those people ever come to your area, they may become so interested as to want to search for your boutique

if you think of opening your own boutique, then yes, sure, give it a try online as well

Yep, No risk to the boutique, releases more budget for them to buy. Unfortunately indies get hit the hardest, but its a foot in the door and gets you important exposure...

sometimes its better than the pitiful "I will buy 4 dresses" ..you know 2 of them are for themselves or friends..:innocent:

maybe for a start you just have online as customer grow have a boutique near by your customer's place :flower:

i think opening your own boutique is a wonderful thing, but you can reach everywhere online and may be get more customer and be internatinal.i'm gonna say both is ok...

I think you should start out with an online store to establish yourself, generate some interest, but open a boutique when you've made enough profit. You see- I'm part of the old fashioned group who dont like online clothes shopping, because I am buying into the shopping experience as much as the fashion. And that I am so intent on quality and good fabric, which gets a bit impossible to tell over internet.

Dare I add, get a myspace? :p^_^

^does myspace act as a store as well?

hehehe :D

nah no no no- i just meant the publicity factor. Considering that everything from Viktor & Rolf to i-D has one, I suppose the thing to do would be to jump on the bandwagon?

The thing with boutiques is that if you open it up yourself, there is a huge financial investment involved. I was thinking about what I should do because I want to start an online shop to sell my stuff on the side.
