^^ Yeah, good-luck, Lynch.
Now, make me a dress... :innocent:

We should trade machines for a while!
I need a slower one and you can borrow my industrial beast.

:p

I semi-finished my prom dress today :D
The back's still undone because I was doing the zipper tonight and went, "Damn, I need a black zipper." And I didn't have a black zipper at hand. What do you think? White zipper or black zipper? Also, it's only basted on, hence the messiness.
This was the initial inspiration, and I modified this pattern to make it. It took me pretty much all of my spring break.

OMG, the dresses you all made are freaking gorgeous!!!
I really want to learn, sewing dresses. But I have really non-experience.
some books a would need? where to get material?...

i've sewn a bit in the past, mostly pants, pajamas, some skirts and dresses, but i had a teacher help me with all of those... i recently got a sewing machine and now i'm afraid i won't be able to sew without any help!.

where do you guys find cool patterns?. i've looked in places like ac moore and online and they are all fairly atrocious...i think i'd be better off learning patterning making...

this skirt is my second amateur sewing project. ..didn't turn out as a-line as i would have liked it and i should have matched the stripes on the sides  good enough, though :flower:

cutx, have you tried "SEW U- Built by Wendy Sewing Book"? i don't own it but i know there is a thread on it somewhere :flower:

^I think that the Built by Wendy designer makes patterns for the Vogue Patterns books.

yes, i have em, but unfortunately, it's all just about how to cut patterns, etc, basic stuff like that :(

look for the actual built by wendy patterns, not just the Sew U book. Here's a link to them here, http://www.builtbywendy.com/onlineshop/cart.php?target=main&page=builtbyyou, but you can buy them baisically anywhere you buy other patterns (walmart, fabricland, any fabric stores).

Keep in mind too that a lot of patterns don't look trendy and stylish only because of the way they are presented on the pattern envelope. Use your imagination and imagine them done in other fabrics you like, or maybe with an altered hem line. You'll be able to find a lot of nice patterns this way :)
