Sewing

Right now I'm making a halter top. I'll post it when I'm done. I'm not very good at sewing because I'm still learning, but I have sewn a couple of dresses and a skirt before. I attempted at a purse, but I failed at that.

I wanna see the dresses and skirt!!!

contrats! Love that sweetheart neckline!

hye, for the dries shirt (from a couple pages back) what about muslin or a sort of cheesecloth fabric? I want lots of really light white dresses for this summer in that sort of fabric. Good luck!

Opinions?

I'm doing projects for my brother and sister for christmas, embroidering designs which I will affix to some zip-up track jackets I got from American Apparel. I finished my brothers last night and am trying to figure out where to affix the patch onto the jacket.

Here's the patch:

I think it's too small for the back, so I tried it over one of the slanted pockets:

It looks OK open, but when you zip it, it looks kinda strange. Any ideas as to wear it could go?

Should I post this question elsewhere?

Thanks:flower:

No I think it looks perfect there. The only alternative would be to have it on the breast pocket but i think that it would be too large for there. And on the sleeve would not give your beautiful stitchwork enough focus. I like it where it is. Gorgeous pattern, too!

I think it would look quite cool on the back left or right shoulder. Maybe thats just me though.

I agree with meg.....kinda offset and maybe going from the shoulder to the sleeve.....great needlework!!!!!!!!

thanks guys

I'll try and work with the upper shoulder idea...do you think it would be better to locate it on the lower end of where the shoulder blade hits?

How bout rotating the spade a bit so that the top point hits at an angle?

I can't take any pitures now, but I'll keep playing around with it.

I like that....rotate it so the point goes onto the sleeve part of the shoulder......your brother is a lucky guy:flower:

Out of my lurker hovel I come, thought it would be fun to share these jeans I just finished making. Reverse side denim, all the topstitching was done by hand. I'm busy working on some more tailored pants in a dark green cotton twill.

I agree I like it when it looks offset and not so "planned" if that makes any sense:rolleyes:

It's hard to tell what they really look like, but they seem like very nice jeans! :flower:

omg! I found the sewing thread!:woot:

here's a contest entry I did for International Young Designers competition the other year, the theme was "environment and ecology", the dress was called "alive inside"... long story short didn't make it to the finals. This qualifies as the most avant garde thing I have ever made... and maybe the last avant garde thing I ever make... what a huge amount of work/money!!

this was my first big "extracurricular" that I attempted after learning how to sew in 1st year fashion design. It's a black poly cotton with a really full skirt, deep halter back and lace overlay on the bodice. I made it back when I was really skinny so it's a tight squeeze now but I still wear it out sometimes...

another early extracurricular...
this is a matching pant/corset in black polyester jacquard... two layers of deep 5" fringe on the pants, and long cords with tassles on the corset.
