Sex and the City Movie *Update* The Movie Sequel in the Works

Aiden won't be coming back for the sequel. :flower: I read it in Sunday's Parade magazine.

^ Personally, I'm glad. I never liked Aidan. He always bothered me a little bit.

NEW YORK - More than a thousand people lined up for several hours in New York City on Tuesday for the chance to be an extra in the “Sex and the City” movie sequel.
The first “Sex and the City” film met with lukewarm reviews upon its release in May 2008, but won the hearts of movie fans and grossed $415 million worldwide. Shooting on the sequel is set to begin shortly for a 2010 release.
Based on a book by Candace Bushnell, the films follow the successful HBO TV series about the love lives of four single women in New York City. The TV series and films star Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, Kim Cattrall and Kristin Davis.

Wearing an orange and gold evening dress and gold sparkly high heel shoes, Amanda Rivera, a 19-year-old dancer from the Bronx, arrived at the casting call with her father at 1 a.m. to be first in line for the hopefuls.
“I am going for the celebrity look,” she said as she sat on the street to rest her feet. “I am an aspiring actress and I thought this would be a great opportunity. Any little thing is good exposure, even though this is background extra.”
Grant Wilfley Casting said it was looking for “fashion models, celebrity types, upscale socialites, urban club goers, gays and lesbians, international types (Middle Eastern, Arabic, Asian, European, British), professional soccer players.”
Some were a little confused by the call for gays and lesbians.
“I was going for the nightclub trendy look, but they also asked for gay and lesbian and I didn’t know what that looked like so I might fit that as well,” said Deidra Demens, 22, a shoe sales associate from Brooklyn, laughing.
“I love ‘Sex and The City’ and I would love an opportunity to be a part of the movie in any way that I can,” she said.
Carmella Cerar, a Queens housewife who described her age as “50-plus,” has never acted before.
“I am going for upscale socialite,” she said of her black and white outfit with a matching broad-brimmed hat. “I loved the movie, the series and wish I could be friends with them.”
Tanner Brainard, 19, moved to New York City last week from Nashville, Tennessee, to try and become a model.
“I heard they were looking for models so I just went for the simple look, not too dressy,” he said of his outfit of a tight deep red T-shirt and jeans. “You never know who’s going to see you.”
Benjamin Pastor, 57, an interior designer from Brooklyn, said he had taken acting classes and thought he could portray someone in a club or maybe a club manager.
“Ultimately ‘Sex and the City’ represents a more youthful presentation of who lives here,” he said. “Being an old New Yorker and being really part of the reason why people came here — we have created what New York is — I just thought there might be some room for someone over 50.”

I was listening to "On Air With Ryan Seacrest" and Victoria is not going to be in the sequel.

I would hate to see Aidan back in the picture. I've been watching reruns recently and I can't take him.. the way he talks, like he's the smoothest person on earth.

I'm the same, i never liked him at all. I prefer Carrie with Big.

I'm hoping that there isn't any major bust up between Carrie and Big in the new movie, it does get a bit boring after a while. :ninja: I'd rather Samantha had the major storyline instead.

I agree.. there's only so many "happy endings"!

Oh god. They have the most turbulent relationship of all relationships.

Breakup, hookup, breakup, hookup, adultery, break up, hookup, then dumped at the altar, get back together. Now another break up?!

If they can't make it together after what - 15? - years, BREAK UP FOR GOOD.

I'm tired of their routine.

LMAO. so true.
she has issues clearly when you look at it on paper, i think a recession themed film will be most likely *yawn*. But it will still be good all the same and gross hundreds of millions :woot:

I would hope that Carrie would have her issues with Big sorted out after all this time. I'd hate to be her age and still have "guy issues" Sometimes it's like she hasn't learnt anything from her previous relationships.

^^IMO if she learned somthing she would have never married Big but I understand that for the movie that it had to happen.

i never looked at the age issue but it's true. for someone who is a 'relationship expert' or whatever, she's quite old and 'been around the block' to still have problems with Big.

^^Her problems with big usually stem from him being completely selfish, and a user, or her being selfish and expecting some idea of 'perfection'. & that aint what relationships are!

thank you for that!! to be honest i would have preferred Isla Fisher to Jennifer Hudson, I just don't think Hudson is a good actress or a good fit for that role.. she just seemed so out of place there, and just too forced, like they were forcing the stereotype. They could have put another African American actress, it was just soo odd to see Hudson and SJP on screen together, definitely did not work.

totally agree! It did come across as totally forced, like they just decided to draft her in to 'fill the race quota'. Which is ridiculous, im all for them promoting equality, but imo Kerry Washington would have played the part perfectly...and brought some of the 'satc' glitz that I felt hudson didnt.

You would think with all the men that Carrie has been with and all the crap that she has put up with Big, she would realise that there is no such thing as a "perfect relationship" She is in her 40s after all, so it shouldn't come as a big surprise to her.
