Style Awards organiser Mary McGowne said the lists reflected St Laurent's words. "I think what this year's list demonstrates is that true style and quality mature over time. The work that someone like Shirley Manson is doing now is incredible. She has never compromised and is a real style icon for young women."
Manson, 42, from Edinburgh, became famous as lead singer of US band Garbage, which has sold more than 14 million records. With the band in a recording hiatus, she has launched a solo career and stars in Fox TV's ratings-grabbing Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, in which she plays a tough chief executive officer.
The Style Awards judges' citation says Manson has gone from "global rock icon to lauded screen star. Manson's inimitable edgy and directional style remains more than at any other point in a dazzling 25-year career authentic, uncompromising and utterly potent."
