Shoes: yay or nay? #1

I noted my "Yay or Nay?" picks on the sandals in the "Shop Til You Drop" thread. I nay'ed both, yet chose the second sandals if I had to choose between those two. Now on to Post #10,677.
The usual rule of thumb on tFS is (or most likely) "all thong sandals (including the ubitquitous flip-flops) are ugly." I'm going to surprise some of you later in this paragraph. I'm going to definitely Nay! those flip-flops. The massive flower is the turnoff. I'm not extremely fond of massive details, much like the big flower on Carrie's dress that most femmes fell in love with from the "Sex and the City Movie." I'm going to surprise some of you with recommendations: I'd rather go with [certain kinds of] gladiator sandals or maybe a good pair of peep-toe sandals or pumps. The surprise from all of this was my gladiator sandal recommendation.
So that's a nay from me. And I don't even want to hear about pairing these with leggings or tights (which would make these sandals worse). I don't like those. Have a great May!

Zarina, out of the two pairs, the Loeffler Randall one is the best BUT you got too much metallic & gold going on there.
I suggest you pick a cream/neutral/beige/white pair of shoes and please, not flat sandals, they're too "summery" for that coat [even if it's a light one].

And just to say I totally agree with Navygreen about the coat. The gold on the sandals clashes with the gold on the coat and I never even thought about them being at odds season-wise but that's totally true.

First weekend of May... two lace-up boots... let's get it on.
I'm surprised the boots in Post #10,691 got some nay's. I thought they were going to be a healthy bunch of yay's in this era of fierce fashion. Those boots will give you nightmares at night. Not sure what Hot Topic would sell those shoes. Then again, these are Nay! shoes. Pass these up! Instead, look for some better lace-up boots or perhaps some high-heel oxfords instead. Poor boots... what a terrible injustice done to them. These are failure embodied in a pair of boots.
Up next are the lace-up boots in Post #10,693. These are less ghastly than the first boots, but I'm going to moderately Nay! these. These are more like lace-up rain boots trying to be chic. I can see why some of these decisions are tough in "Yay or Nay?" discussions. It's just tough to really recommend or disregard certain shoes. I actually wanted to give these boots a yay, but just not enough to give me any such recommendation. I'm not too keen on these boots, so I've only given a moderate nay.
And of course, remember... don't just go on my opinions alone on these shoes. I'm just one guy out of 6.6 billion people on Earth. It's all up to you whether you want the shoes in question or not. I can sway interest, but the ultimate decision is yours. So go look fab and dress confidently!
