I am going on Friday to get my hair chopped off! Yea! I have been growing it out for awhile now. It is about 4 1/2 inches (I get it trimmed every few weeks) and I hate it. I always thougt that I had thin, fine hair but now that it is longer than one inch it is soooo thick and fluffy! I can't stand it any longer.

i recently chopped my hair off (a la gwyneth style in sliding doors) and came out of the salon feeling elated! i'd always kept my hair long (& was always 'known' for my long hair). there's just something about chopping off all your hair that is so liberating & you can only feel it once you've done it. it's funny though how a new hairdo also comes with a handful of 'life lessons'. only in terms of me feeling loads more confident as a person, and being enlightened to how males & females view women with short hair. i'll have many women come up to me and say 'wow, that is such a great haircut. i wish i could do something like that, but my face wouldn't fit it or my boyfriend wouldn't like it'. and i find it really shocking. only cos i feel like, 'yes you like the haircut, but you wouldn't do it not becos of your facial structure, but becos youre afraid'. afraid that their sexuality might be taken away from them, afraid their boyfriend wouldn't 'like' them as much. dunno. whatever, happened to unconditionality-like me for who i am & what lies underneath; especially since hair length is something so transient! anyhow, sorry for the long dribble in this post, but was excited to see this thread! anyone thinking of going short, should definitely take the plunge..

I totally agree with you, trin, it is wonderful to cut off your hair, and the more drastic the cut is the better I usually feel. It is odd though how seriously some people take it, I mean, it does grow back..

A couple years ago I had my long hair chopped off and styled like Mandy Moore's. It was fabulous, so easy and everyones said I looked so cute. All I had to do in the morning was blow-dry it and run my hands through it with some hairspray and a bit of wax. So easy and it never got flat (my hair is very fine).

I have high cheekbones and according to some people really "asian" eyes...My mom even says that I have cat eyes lol...So anyways I cute my hair short and did my bangs all funky and people say it looks really good and makes me look more "asian" lol. So I think short hair would look good on someone with a nice bone structure!

A big thank you to everyone that has contributed to this thread! I got the worst haircut in my life today, and I've found some great ideas for the fix-up appointment tomorrow. I'm still wondering how I asked for a simple bob and ended up with 80's mom hair

Totally cute, some of these pictures! So I had long hair forever, cut it to a bob last April? (can't remember), then in September I chopped it to a gamine pixie and bleached the hell out of it a la Mariacarla. Recently though (in the last 2 weeks) I just dyed it a dark brown because I could not stand the damage and breakage that bleaching was causing it. I thought it was adorable platinum, but my hair was going to pot as if it was no longer hair and instead became brittle straw despite constant deep conditioning masks/treatments. So since I dyed it it will grow in healthier but I still have the damaged hair on my head, it's just dyed dark now. So I am going to get it rechopped on Thursday. I don't know how it will turn out since it is already quite short. Pray for me! I think it will be just a step above buzzed. Scary. Maybe it will be cute though like Cecilia's in that pic posted of her and Agyness a few pages back.

I may need to chop off my hair. It's just so damaged. But I don't really want a pixie cut. (Did that once before.)
