Sienna Miller

I don't like the blue peacoat, it's very normal. I'm not too keen on the stripey tops either, even on Kate. I do love pirate boots though-but if you look at very old candids of sienna, she's had them for ages. She has some with heels too.

I don't think I agree with that. I think you going to have to want to be this 'trend setter' and I imagaine with a little thought its quite easy. Though I don't imagine Kate purposefully tries to look cool, that would defeat the object surely.
I think its great that Sienna appeals to the mass-market but I don't think you should be inspiring Oasis trends and on the cover of ID, especially when you've been around for such a short amount of time.

I think trend setting happens by accident, it's not intentional at all - Kate has style, people copy it, I doubt its contrived, you've either got it or you haven't. I doubt that Sienna did either - you can't decide to do that kind of thing, it's a chance thing.

All of us who work in the mainstream fashion trade constantly look at celebs. We don't give a sh*t whether they've been round for five minutes or five years or who they are dating or whether they're a rubbish actress or not, if they look good we know that they'll influence the public. Whatever you think, Sienna is the one at the moment. We know that the mass market fashion customer is a lot more likely to copy a pic of a celeb that they've seen in Heat than to copy a picture of a model in Elle. Thats the way it is now.

No one in the fashion trade is going to be so precious to say 'oh I won't be inspired by Sienna coz she's only been around for five minutes and that's not right'. They will go ahead and copy her clothes and sell them, or write an article on her because they know that it will sell.

^^LadyMuck, I personally find it boring to go into shop after shop and see the same thing over and over again whether it's influenced by Sienna or Kate. I like to shop or buy things where there is a little effort to creat unique clothing, not coping an individual who is suposed to be Bohemian. I am however a highstreet shopper as it is what i can afford and can access.

strange...

It's so strange to read all this stuff about Sienna Miller being the 'it' person right now, cause here in the US she's not that big at all. Not a lot of people know her or try to copy her. I guess people who read sh*t like US weekly would know of her, sort of. I guess in London she appeals to the mass market, but in New york Kate Moss is the name that everyone knows, not sienna. Just thought it was weird.

I'm bored of it too, but the mass market fashion trade is driven by shareholders, not fashion creatives, so if a trend sells, they buy more of it and they continue to push it longer than they would have done had it not been big. I reckon most of us who post on here are not really mass market anyway.

Put it this way - I won't be buying a Prairie Skirt - they will be everywhere on the high street this summer - I think they'll sell well because they flatter all knids of body types, but I never buy into the big trends, personally.

I've been designing this boho kind of thing for nearly two years now, that's what the shops want. If I did what I wanted, I'd starve. Buyers hate taking risks at mass market level. The likes of TopShop etc can try out edgy trends in their Oxford Street branch, but as a designer, you can't live off that kind of work because its not plentiful. I get a little bit of innovative work and the rest is high volume.

If you want something a bit more individual and you are bored of the same old same old why not try charity shops, ebay and TK Maxx? That's what I do. Also try La Redoute - I think its a bit different because its French, so it doesn't sell quite the same trends as a UK catalogue would

I love siennas style among katesbut I wouldn't say that I wear similar clothes, and if so , it's just accidentially. Love her interview from december -04 UK vogue. And stillassaying, i think that she will be the 'it' girl, maybe she's not that yet, but one day, one day..

i saw a pic of sienna earlier from the williamson after party at kabaret's, her legs looked so hot

I went to gawker.com today (a NYC-based blog, for those of you who are not familiar) and someone copied (word for word) and sent in my Sienna sighting that I wrote about on here (as if it happened to them). I don't really care, but that is kind of...odd, whoever did it.

^^ i read that too and just assumed you had sent it in. That's wierd if you didn't....
