fashionista.comStateside, Sigerson Morrison founders Kari Sigerson and Miranda Morrison have announced that they’re leaving the company. After founding the label 20 years ago, WWD reports that they are currently “pursuing other business opportunities.”
Sigerson Morrison, best known for its pointy-toe flats, was bought by mass footwear brand Marc Fisher in 2006, but the duo stayed on as creative and design directors.
As for what this means for the Sigerson brand, we’re guessing that there will be a bigger push into mass markets, maybe even beyond the Belle bridge line. As for the founders, we hope they’ll start something fresh and new. When I first found Sigerson Morrison flats in high school, I remember thinking that these shoes would change my life. (There was a long time in the ’90s when you just couldn’t find flats at department stores. Especially in the middle of suburbia. Seeing a pair of Sigerson Morrisons gave me hope.) And I remember buying my first pair at one of their legendary sample sales in the early ’00s. I’d be impressed if they could create a similar kind of magic with something new.
