Simply Vera : Vera Wang for Kohl's

the house wares department of kohls is ually well spaced. but YES the clothes racks are all shoved together. that does not look good at all.

i read that the gold skirt will only be at select urban stores and online.

i better not miss scooping it up or i will be annoyed at myself.

fyi...

Waiting for Vera Wang to go on sale?

The new Simply Vera Vera Wang line officiallly debuted at Kohl's Sunday, at full price. But loyal Kohl's shoppers know that everything goes on sale, and they never pay full price.

So how long do we have to wait for the Vera markdowns? It happens Thursday, Sept. 13, according to Kohl's chairman Larry Montgomery. I talked with him this afternoon and asked him how Vera is selling.

"I'm expecting results to be very good," Montgomery said. "But you really don't know until it goes on sale."

 And that's the real benefit of it being at Kohl's

^^
FYI I'm not sure the gold skirt is out. I didn't see any in the store.

Oh good that gives me hope! I'm going to inquire about it. I want one really fun bold metallic piece this season but I really don't want to pay that much cash for a gold skirt as I feel there's probably a limit to how many times one can get away with wearing something like that  the price on that skirt is just right for me and I'd hate to see it slip through my fingers.

I went to the local Kohl's today and the entire selection of Simply Vera, including clothes, shoes and accessories, were 30% off. The location I visited had almost everything in stock, since it's in the middle of nowhere, so I had fun looking through the pieces. I walked out of the store with two items, the polyester self belt top in turquoise and black, and paid only $65.

Overall I'm pretty pleased with the quality of the collection and would love to buy more if I had the money. However, the shoes all have a sort of cheap appearance, but maybe I'm just picky. In general, I would not recommend purchasing anything online as the pictures are quite deceiving in both positive and negative ways.

The shirts I purchased:

Here's the turquoise version on me:

Wow, that's quite different to the pictures. I think I prefer it, looks more elegant.

seanutbutter- that top looks really nice on you...
but wow, it does look much different from the pics.

Has anyone picked up or seen any of the home offerings? I've heard the line has bedding, though I'm not sure what else. I have a new apartment to outfit so I might like to check the stuff out.

i think it's just bedding..
i didn't look at it but my mom said it's very nice..

*i can't believe how much stuff is sold out on the website......

ugh, I put one of the tops in my shopping cart. 32 bucks isn't bad considering it was 50. I just don't like to buy clothes without trying them on and the nearest one to me is 40 miles away.

sooooo...how are you all finding the quality, material and construction-wise? I have heard very mixed reviews....the one at Racked was particularly discouraging.

thanks in advance. :flower:

personally, i think it really depends on the item...i find a lot of the knits to be really nice, like the modal t-shirts and the short-sleeved tunic-y one. i think they're cut quite well and the material is very soft yet not flimsy. i liked the sweaters as well. i would say that a lot of this is akin to banana republic in terms of materials -- nice, but you wait till it goes on sale because it's slightly overpriced. i thought the blue dress with the ribbon straps was really lovely and now i'm slightly kicking myself for not getting it :) i actually found the coats to be the most disappointing...the cut was awkward and the material, while nice enough, didn't really warrant $128 (or whatever the price was) and it wasn't lined. i think some of the shoes were nice esp. with some of the detailing. and the handbags really varied for me -- i have the black pvc hobo and it seems to be holding up with my rough 'em, tough 'em urban lifestyle :) and it gets compliments. in person i also like the soft ruched satchel, and some of the "signature" bags could be nice. (i got one for my mom and she liked it.) but i thought some of the other bags were just kind of cheap-looking.

anyway, hope this helps! i think the racked review was a little too dismissive of the whole thing. like most lines, some things were done well and some were not. it's rare that i think a whole line is strong overall -- even at the designer-designer level :)
