Drei Tage nach ihrer Entdeckung durch einen Model-Scout in ihrer Heimatstadt Kiew fand sich die fünfzehnjährige Snejana Onopka in New York wieder, wo sie mit dem Kult-Fotografen Steven Meisel eine Kampagne für Dolce & Gabbana shootete. Und als nur wenige Wochen später die Schauen für die Frühjahrsmode 2004 starteten, begann auch Snejanas Laufstegkarriere.

Three days after her encounter with a model scout in her hometown of Kiev, 15 year old Snejana Onopka found herself in New York where she shot a campaign with cult photographer Steven Meisel for Dolce&Gabanna. And only a few weeks after, as the spring summer 2004 shows started, Snejana's career began to sky rocket.

Spätestens bei den Fashion Shows für H/W 06/07 avancierte die zarte Ukrainerin zum absoluten Liebling der Designer und war auf allen Catwalks der namhaften Labels zu sehen. Mittlerweile zierte sie zweimal das Cover der italienischen VOGUE und die Titelseite der Numéro sowie der i-D. Außerdem war sie in Kampagnen für Lanvin, Prada, Yves Saint Laurent und Louis Vuitton Eyewear zu sehen.

Recently at the shows for a/w 06/7 the tender Ukrainian was promoted to the absolute favourite of the designers and could be seen on the catwalks of all the famous designers. Meanwhile she got the cover of italien vogue twice, and the title page of Numero and likewise of i-D. In addition to that she could be seen in campaigns for Lanvin, Prada, YSL, and LV eyewear.

Über den unglaublichen Erfolg freut sich ihre ganze Familie: „Meine Mama sammelt jeden Zeitungsschnipsel, auf dem ich abgebildet bin“, erzählt das 1986 geborene Model. Ihre Eltern sind ihre große Unterstützung: „Als ich ein Kind war, war mein Vater in einer Rockband. Darum weiß er genau, wie man sich fühlt, wenn man im Rampenlicht steht“, berichtet sie und fügt hinzu: „Ich singe übrigens auch gern...“ Vielleicht plant sie schon eine zweite Karriere?

Her entire family is overjoyed with her sucess. "My mummy collects cuttings of every picture I appear in", explains the model who was born in 1986. Her parents are her greatest support (I almost wrote understudy ) "When I was a child, my father was in a rockband, so he knows exactly how it feels to be in the spotlight" she says, and then adds: "By the way I also enjoy singing..." Perhaps she has already planned a second career?
