St Ives Apricot Scrub, Good or Evil

I think it's not too bad..it's actually worked well for my face.

When I am travelling, I'll just bring one tube along and it doubles up as a body scrub as well..

I used to be a fan of it but found it to be quite abrasive after awhile...I guess if you use it 2/3 times a week as an exfoliator, it's alright...wouldn't recommend using it daily though...

yes most scrubs are meant to be used like once a week or so. I would recommend try using it like once a week for a few weeks and if that works then keep it at that. Or try 2 times a week for a while but keep the days spaced out like once on monday then again on thursday, etc.. Because if you over use any scrub it can over exfoliate and mess up your skin;)

Is the face scrub or the body wash harsher? I need something harsh because I have some serious body exfoliating to do...

i used the medicated one once a day, for half a year. it was okay, i had a few pimples still (it's normal as i have acne-prone teenage skin) but i liked it.

then my mom told me that it was too harsh for everyday use so i stopped it and switched to oxy wash. soon, i developed a horrible breakout, and my skin has been very pimply for a month.

is more pimples a normal part of growing up? i'm 15. or is it because i stopped using the scrub? is it too abrasive for everyday use?

It's definitely too abrasive for everyday use.
I would switch to once a week.
The harsher you are on your skin, the more aggravated it gets.
Soft, light facial washes are all you need.

Just finished reading throught the thread with interest. I used to us Aapri's facial scrub years ago, but then switched to the scrub pads which I preferred as I didn't like the sort of jagged lumps of apricot kernel in the scrub. I'm assuming the St Ives is similar?

I now use Neutrogena's Visibly Clear blackhead eliminating daily scrub every second day, except on the one day a week that I use L'Oreal's microdermabrasion kit which I absolutely love. My skin is glowing these days, with fewer blackheads and breakouts. I've been doing the above for about six months.

Incidentally, when I went for a facial a couple of months ago, she told me a brilliant way of getting rid of blackheads that I've found actually works without injuring you skin. Just use the looped end of a 'kirby' hair grip (one of those doubled up bits of wire type clips) - press it just hard enough on your skin so that when you drag it over the affected area it squeezes the blackheads out. It's really good fun, in a gross sort of way!

I've been using it since I was 10 about twice a week. I haven't had an outbreak in my life. I don't know if its genetics or that. I get the occasional zit don't get me wrong but I never have outbreaks.

St. Ives was too rough for my skin. I use Origins Never A Dull Moment to exfoliate about 2-3 times a week. It has some crushed particles in it but you slowly massage it on your face it's not rough at all. And it leaves my skin very soft and moisturized.

I use this as a body scrub and it is phenomenal. If there is anyone who gets those bumbs on the back of your arms, you should definitely give this a try because it has helped calming those bumps down.

I use it for a body scrub, especially for my back. I find it too harsh for my face, plus I'm on prescription retinoids so my skin is more sensitive to harsher scrubs. I can use them if the exfoliants are less coarse though.

I love st Ives apricot scrub, my skin is glowing, ive had less breakouts of spots, ive only got 3 spots at the mo and thats only because ive just gone on the pill and its kicking in (plus side to the pill tho, is my breasts are abit bigger, well big enough for my boyfriend to notice ;) ) anyways.. if you use this scrub everyday like me, what i do is use a moisturiser mine is Olay classic beauty fluid, which is great.. and well because ive started with this scrub my skin feels so great that ive actually got the confidence somedays to wear no make up at all ^_^

I think I'm going to try it, because it seems that everyone ahd tried it once!

Yes! I agree with everything you posted.

I love this stuff. It's a cheap exfoliator, but works wonders... my boyfriend always comments on how soft my skin is. Love the glow it gives me. :flower:

I think this product is more suited for men since they tend to have rougher skin.

As for me, I really like the product. It makes my face as smooth as a baby's bottom...^_^

I use it once a week. I have combination skin that is normal/oily in some places and extrememly dry in others. I usually wait until my dry skin is very flaky or rough before using this so I don't accidently use it too frequently.
