Stick foundation

I am considering buying a stick foundation just to try it to see how it works. Probably the one by Maybelline or like that. So, how does a stick actually work? Is it better or worse than liquid/cream/powder? I am just curious because I have never used one before. Thanks, y'all.

I used to use L'Oreal stick foundation when stick foundations were the big thing, and I remember being happy with it. It was quick and easy.

Since the stick trend is long gone, they don't sell stick foundations from brands like Maybelline and L'Oreal here anymore, so when I wanted to try a stick foundation again I bought one from MAC. I didn't like that one at all. It felt so greasy, like it was instantly clogging up all my pores, it didn't cover anything and was impossible to blend.

I've haven't tried it personally, but I believe that Max Factors panstick is considered one of the better stick foundations.. http://www.maxfactor.nu/face/cream/panstik.jsp

Max factor's shades confuse me. What is their equivilant to Ivory? Also, how do you apply stick?
