Style My Hair

Hey, check out my avatar. Any idea how I might cover up the medulla oblongata? It just keeps sticking out.

I dont know if im supposed to post this here, I couldn't find the right thread, but anyway I really need help girls.
I dyed my hair just a few days and it turned out like a reddish orangey brown with a brassy yellow undertone to it, it looks discusting on me! it doesn't suit my skin tone at all. I've been wanting a color exactly like this girl in the pic.. It's like a light chocolate brown with no yellow or orange in it, or maybe its light ash brown right? I really want all the orange out.. Can someone please tell me how to get this color using a home-hair coloring product, what brand do you recommend and what color?? I would really appreciate it. Thank you so much guys!!

You can't. It will always be orange if you do it at home. I'm assuming your hair is black if you want this dark brown? The orange never seems to fade, so just go to a salon if you dont want the heartache of frying your hair!

I have black hair and the first time I lighten it at home it tuned orange. After that I used a shade of the color I wanted in ash. Ash colors have a blue or violet base that neutralize the orange and yellow tones. After that I had the color I wanted without the orange. If your hair is healthy you could try an ash brown, but I would recommend you to try it first in a small strand of hair to see how it turns out, if you like the result do the rest of your hair. If your hair is not healthy I think you should go to a salon, but either way use a good conditioner before coloring again.
About brands, Clairol's Hydrience is water base so is mild on hair. And L'oreal's Preference has nice ash colors.
Whatever you do I hope you can get the color you want, good luck!:)

You need a neutral brown, ash would work fine. As long as it's fairly dark. Unless you are darkening your hair, home colouring is an experiment with disaster when you're unknowledgeable about it. Even darkening can end badly if you are doing it more than 2 or 3 shades than your current colour. Do a strand test.

Hi everyone :) My hair is blonde at the moment and naturally it's a slightly darker blonde. I am however leaning towards going a rich chocolate colour just because I've been blonde (varying shades, from platinum to mousey) for almost three years and I'm getting bored with it. Which colour do you prefer?

Thank you :)

I like the first one. Can't very well see the second shot to tell.

i would like to know how to get the wavey hair look, without using rollers or hot irons, find it difficult to style it my self.
could i style my straight hair wavey without making much of an effort?

I have naturally thick, wavy hair, and I'm sick of straightening my hair all the time, especially since I have so much damage from heat styling so much. How do I enhance the natural waves so that they look nice and sleek instead of a big, frizzy mess? Well, it's not quite a mess, but it's not as great as it can be and it's just not really... acceptable... to go out with that kind of hair. Advice would be very much appreciated!

angelfacex- braid your hair thick and go to bed, when you wake up, it should be loose and wavy. If you braid too thin, it comes out looking like a big fizzy afro, so I would say in 4 sections.

would you braid it strting from roots or just from he ends?
Cheers:flower:

depends on the look your going for. If you want effortless casual wave, braid loosely from roots to end. I don't really like the look when only the ends are braided as it makes the top of your hair look flat and matte.

I am concidering to cut my hair a bit bob-ish. Well, a bob, but i don't want so short hair in the back, so it won't be as short as the 'normal' bob.
The thing is that i don't know if it will look good at me. I feel it might will, but i would like to hear others opinions.

The positive things is that i might look older and since my hight only is 1,65 m, i might look longer when you can see my shoulders.
The negative things is that i might get disappointed and not look good at all.

I have a picture of me here (never mind the paleness, webcam quality)
I am happy for all answers and opinions.

^I think a bob would look great on you, especially if you got your hair highlighted or lightened or something to add depth, dimension, and life to your hair); otherwise, it may look a little "blah" with just a cut and no coloring.

Here are some pictures if you need ideas or inspiration:

I absolutely adore all of these cuts:

^very subtle high/low lights. I love this.

^note the highlights; they don't drastically go from brown to blonde.

^I like the cut, but it seems a bit limp and unlively; kind of like it lacks depth and dimension because it all appears to be one color.

^Okay, so that's not exactly a bob, but it looks classy and sophisticated, too.

^It would be really "blah" like Kate Bosworth's without the strategically-placed highlights.

Hope that helps!

That was exactly what i was thinking about. Thanks for posting pic's :flower:
I have decided to do it, i just want to talk to my hairdresser and see if she understands. I'll take the pictures with me. About the highlights, if i want any, i will go for beige-ish.

^I bet you'll look lovely with a bob! Can you post an after-picwhen you got your new haircut :flower: ?

Of course, cutie :) I don't know when i will be able to get an appointment, but i will try to get one before school starts (3 jan) or (if i am lucky) before new years day :)

*bounces* I'm always happy to help someone out!

I would love to get a bob myself, but I think I'll do that if I get my hair chemically straightened. I really want this done, but I am not exactly sure where to go for the process. :/ I mean, I don't want some inexperienced person to totally wreck my hair.

I did not even even know you could get you'r hair chemically straightened. My hair gets 'wavey' when i don't blow it dry. Could that be a problem for me when i get a bob? And one more thing, does anyone know about a website where i can se different bob-haircuts?
