personally i don't really like stars&chinese symbols, so i would go with the swallow.
i don't know if you speak chinese? but i always find it a bit weird when people who don't speak a language are getting a tattoo in it. + it happens so often that a chinese symbol is wrong and has a completly different meaning (or not one at all).
but if you actually speak chinese yourself there would be no problem

i agree with you Novembermeisje i have heard some horror stories regarding chinese tattoos with a totally different meaning.....Esperenza the common meaning of the star and moon tattoo is that while it origins are from islam, it has a powerful symbolic meaning and stars particuraly are universal symbols, not tied to a specific religion or culture, and can mean a lot of different things to a lot of different people. I like the idea that the crescent moon is in itself a symbol of transition and transformation as the moon moves through its cycles, thats what it represents to me personally......

that quotations tattoo is so cute & unique! I love it on her. my last tattoo was a white ink tattoo on the inside of my wrist.. "let go."

its a little less pink now and more of a cream color.. easier to see in person.. but i LOVE white ink tats. they're my new obsession.

I got this lotus flower about 7 years ago, to cover up another old tat. Looks faded, but its really quite vivid. Its just above the elbow, on the inner bicep. Artists call it "the ditch".

i have two more tiny tattoos.. these are black ink..

this was my first tattoo... an 8-pointed christmas star (i was born on christmas) - this star represents myself...

a close up. i specifically got it right over my pulse.

this star represents my mother.. because she is always in my ear/back of the mind - she influences my decisions in a positive way. i wanted it to look like it was kinda being pulled/stretched by my hair line when i put it up.

i really want another white tattoo. i prefer that color on myself because it shows up pretty well since im so pale. i would like to get in script "only in dreams" on the inside curve of my foot in white ink.. that may be my next tattoo!
