I doubt it would fade. Hence: tattoo. Of course with time, it will age with your own skin.

One member responded to my question on white tattoos, and he said that it would look AWFUL once I start aging.

I'm looking into some articles as we speak. :flower: Sit tight and I'll see what I find.

White tattoos can require several passes over the area to make sure that the white ink sinks fully into the skin. White is not as likely to be absorbed by skin as black or colored inks are.

Some of these people may also find that they have a reaction to the white ink. This is much more common than a reaction to black tattoo ink. In some cases the white ink areas will swell and itch, and the white ink may ooze from the tattoo. This can be a sign of your skin actually rejecting the white ink, and you may end up with no tattoo in that area at all.

These tats are not ideal for areas of the body that will be in the sun and elements. White ink can turn quite dull if exposed to the sun frequently, so it's important to choose an area that will be covered when outdoors - such as your chest or back, or even the underside of your arm. White ink is not a good idea for hand tattoos or tats in other exposed places.

A very experianced tattoo artist that I know said that white ink is translucent, rather than opaque. That means that if you have brown skin it won't bleach it white, but just lighten it.

Also, you need to take care of it more if you want it to last. If you have a black tattoo, it'll fade over time as it's exposed to sunlight, but that doesn't matter because it fades from very strong black to something lighter but still very visible. A white tattoo, however, will fade to nothing.

Many tattoo artists who do white ink tattoos say that they look best on people with pale skin, and that it is a good idea to place them on an area of the body which is not frequently exposed to sunlight. Excessive sun exposure can fade the tattoo, causing it to disappear entirely or creating a strange tint of brown or yellow, depending on the ink used. For clients with darker skin, there may be some options; it is best to talk to a tattoo artist personally about your individual situation.

I have a feeling this kind would hurt

thanks so much for that info ^ papa_levante. im still undecided i really love your tattoo redhotfuss as i would get a white ink one on my wrist to...but as i live in aus and am surrounded by the sun all the time i dont think it would be worth it......

I've been obsessed with white ink for a long time, and read that it actually shows up better with pale skin (though it seems it'd be the opposite), and many times it turns out looking pinkish, like a scar, or yellowish. It probably depends on the ink used, so I'd choose a place where you've seen white ink work done before. Many tattoo parlors won't do it, or they will with a warning. I almost got white ink but chose brown instead :)

thanks, everyone. i barely go in the sun at all.. i am quite pale skinned. also, it is important to go to someone who is experienced with working with white ink only tattoos. i heard that the brand Starbrite is the best white ink to use. Also, the person I went to had a way of placing the purple stencil and then almost removing it completely so it didn't blend in with the white ink making it purplish/greyish. I have seen some really bad white tattoos and really beautiful ones. It really depends on your skin and how well it holds white ink.

also, i figured that if the white ink looked horrible i could just let it fade to nothing (by never getting it touched up) or get black ink over it.

About the white ink I have one and I'm super pale. If your tan or go tanning or have a darker complexion it doesn't show up. And they can wear away a lot faster of they are in a place that the sun makes contact with. And yes the can wear away white ink isn't made with the same things colored and black ink is made with.

I have LOTS of them, including big ones in my arm and back, and I love it.

I will probably get a white ink tattoo and get it retouched when necessary. It seems like white ink tattoos aren't worth it at all since so many things can go wrong with them: discoloration, fading, not showing up, etc.

oh, i'm sorry, i dodnt see that te topic was white ink tattoos.. i was talking about mine, that are normal.

but i think white ink tattoos are great. model yasmin brunet has one between her fingers. i'd make one, but it's known that white ink gets absorbed by the skin in no time

^ this post is just about white ink? I thought it was about tattoos in general. I don't have any white ink ones, but plenty of colourful ones :P

We talk about whatever. :p But a few of us, including me, wanted to know about the secret world of white ink tattoos.

I really had to get a good idea as to what a white tattoo looks like. Did some searchin' on the Web.

(I won't post them as thumbnails because you can't see the white when the photo is small.)
