Tattoos

i wonder, if you get a tattoo on your abdomen/stomach does it become permanently distorted if you get pregnant?? :ninja:

It can. I was talking with a friend of a friend who is a tattoo artist about this very thing. She was telling us about a woman who spent a lot of time and money to get an elaborate Asian tattoo on her stomach and then wrapped around her leg. (Sorry, her description made it sound much prettier than I just did!)

The woman got pregnant and afterwards the skin did not bounce back perfectly so some of the design was stretched!

Oh, and I have another friend who is getting a tattoo removed and it is much more expensive and painful than the original tattoo. Make sure you know what you want! ;)

I've added onto the maple leaf, this is where things are for now. I don't think I'll be doing anything for a while. that's subject to chance at any point in time.

it feels much more complete now :flower:

green oh wow, it really does look amazing..and i agree, it seems much more complete now
it's a beautiful piece of art, how brave of you to get a middle-ish big tattoo on such a 'visible' area! i get why some family members were complaining about :p

thanks to all

it is kinda big eh? it dawned on me last night, but yeah solg, I'll have to remind them that I'm a uber good samritan!
can't wait to see more posts, this is a fun thread!
:woot:

I would think that a boob tattoo would hurt, I cringed for a split second on some areas of my wrist!

does anyone know if it hurts to make one on a breast...?

it hurts everywhere, if you get a tat, its going to hurt, that is a guarantee... but if its something that you love and it means a lot to you, a few minutes in pain is a small price to pay because the tat will likely last forever (i had to get the words on my feet redone because its a wear and tear area, it definitely hurt the second time around too)

I think I want something to do with birds to symbolize recovery. I'm ultra broke though so I have a while to think about it while I save money.

One idea was the picture of the bird in flight from the cover of Breakfast at Tiffany's that someone posted on page 19. I don't want to copy but I really liked that picture. If I got that bird in flight it would probably be on my shoulder.

Or to be more subtle I'm thinking of putting a feather on the top of one of my feet. White feathers symbolize peace and truth. And Ostrich feathers also symbolize serenity. I think that really fits in with the idea of recovery. Like kind of 12-stepish but prettier and more personal.

I'm probably go with an ostrich feather on my foot now that I think of it. What do you think?

i think it's a good idea. your post shows that you have been thinking about this and that makes it even better idea. tattoo isn't really a thing that one should rush into.. :p

one thing i have to say though. that second picture might be quite hard to do since it is very detailed. or at least it will take a very long time.. but you just take your pics to the artist and they will draw you a similar one :)

i'm already thinking my next tattoo. idea was to sort of tie a satin ribbon around my ankle.. if someone understands me  i was thinking that i wouldn't make it black and white, instead colour it in different shades of red.
i would like to have something under my collarbones also but haven't really figured out the picture yet.
and something on top of my feet.

No site is more comprehensive than http://www.bmezine.com/

Also a lack of pretty tattoos on there which is good. More original ones. I don't understand stars, or little animals for no other reason than 'I like the animal' or ribbons or bows or star signs or flowers or hearts or fairies or... you get my drift. So silly. Sarah Michelle Gellar has a dragonfly because 'she likes dragonflies' (I bet she has spent hours pondering on the nature of dragonflies) and Alyssa Milano has a fairy "as a token of [her] youth'? What?

the tattoos i see in tihs thread are some of the nicest ive seen

a lot of ppls tattoos are tacky with too many colors

I have a tattoo right above my private area to the right under my hip bone and it didn't hurt one bit.:p

Guess it depends on your pain threshold...
I have a tattoo in a similar area to you Ms. Monroe...and it's very tiny and it hurt like a b*tch!!!
I don't think I could handle anymore.

i basically meant that a tiny needle piercing your skin repeatedly does not feel nice :) I've def. had areas where i wasnt cringing, but none of it was pleasant, just tolerable

well the pain i felt for the one on my wrist, was the pain in my head manifested on the skin, so that was nice in a disturbing way... does that make sense

I have heard some say that after a while on a big tattoo the area becomes a bit numb...
from vibration and repeatedly piercing needle...
Anyone else think that?
