Your thoughts on wrist tattoos? I'm a bit ticked off that they've become so trendy, as I've always wanted to get one. Before they were a trend, yes, because I am that much cooler than you:p

But my tattoo artist (also a dear friend) told me that the wrist is a bad choice for first-time tattoos, because of the pain and visibility. Now, as a seasoned tattoo-ee and after much deliberation, I settled on a design: a harp.

Minimal, beautiful lines, a musical sound I love, an instrument associated with fairytales, original idea...or so I thought. My friend was like, What are you, Irish?! Turns out that it's a major national (and sometimes nationalist) symbol in Ireland. And I don't want that.

Sniff...back to the drawing board I go. And by the time I decide on a new design, aliens on Mars will have followed the trend. Maybe I ought to get a wrist tattoo of a wrist with a star tattoo. You know, for the ironic social commentary. All the hipsters will go green with envy that they didn't think of it first.

^ I think you should get the tattoo you want. i think most people would have the feelings about the harp that you originally had, and not think it was political commentary.

wrist placement seems nice to me. it is highly visible, but it draws attention to a small and delicate place of the body, so it doesn't seem as potentially problematic as other high visibility areas (like the side of the neck, for example). as for its trendiness, i only think that's a problem if there's negative associations with the placement, like what happened to the small of the back. i mean, let's face it, there's only a limited number of places you can place a tattoo, and i'm sure they've all been done before!

this is a recent tattoo, right? i wonder if anyone knows if it was it in response to her breakup with manson..

well, i'd always wanted to get a wrist tat done, but the place is too visible for my work.
it's almost inevitable to be seen.

min-SH, that's what I wanted too! I really like tattoos, but more hidden ones (like on the wrist, the ankle, the nape etc) ... but I'm just such a scaredy cat :p and as I'm not 100% sure about it, I think I better let it be.

i have a tattoo on my wrist, a star, ya ya i know everyone has them now but i didn't really care about that i knew i wanted it myself. Really want to get one like noot seears - its a star with a kind of whirlwind around it, so cool. I have two others, the one on my wrist didnt hurt one bit although in saying that my tolerance for pain when it comes to body art is quite high...could be cuz i'm addicted!!!

i have an appointment at tattooist's next thursday. and i think i have decided what i want. instead of a heart i am going with LiveStrong in pretty handwriting on my wrist. it looks absolutely beautiful. and it means so much for me. lance armstrong. cancer. cycling. my passion for cycling and for livingstrong. it would be the most amazing gift i could ever give to myself. yay!

I didn't realize Erin Wasson had so many tattoos. I'm not that fond of the pink one, it looks a bit like a rash or a scar. But her feather tattoo is one of my favorite tattoos ever, such perfect placement.

This is my latest one of abstract cats. The pic is not too clear as its on my right wrist, I'm right-handed & was hard to take with my left hand. Will get someoneelse to take better pics, especially of my others as one is on the top of my arm & the other is on the back of my shoulder.

Can anyone reccomend I really good tattoo studio in London? I went to the one on 'london ink'...but apparently all the people from the show only work 'on the show' so you cant just walk in & get tattooed by them!

I also tried 'Into you' but didnt like what the guy came up with when he drew it on my arm (he didnt like my picture I bought in!).

I got one nr Soho which im pleased with but they seem to have shut down now.

Any suggestions?! Someone great at black and grey preferably. Thanks:flower:

^_^ i have now 4 tattoos (and lots on the list), i had my last one "That i would be good" (after Alanis' song)last thursday, the little blue bird was done on my 18th birthday on december 3rd last year. On september 9th i had "Viva la Vida" (after Frida Kahlo's painting) done in my back and the 1789 one i had it done 1 day after i turned 17 on december 4th, 2007, the inspiration for that one is really obvious.
