Ok so for a recent brief for my fashion course...choose your own designer, then design a collection for them...we had to do 4 final designs and these are mine. I chose Boudicca, and my theme was anthropology/anatomy. We had to 'do' (colour etc) each illustration in a different way but still stay relevant to our style. 1st is just black fineliner, 2nd is yarn stitched into paper with a slight colour wash were the 'nerve' head-dress/shoulder bits are, 3rd is collage black bin liners cut out in the shape of the garment, with black matt card corset bit and yarn stitched in again, 4th is just coloured pencil...I think i'll stitch into this on the machine in black straight stitch...it's not finished (note only one hand)...I'm going to display them all differently too but that will come later.
beautiful! what school?

just did this one for my inspiration journal the dress is tissue paper and the lines are hand stitched.

Hi everyone,

I am doing market research on illustration prices. Can you just give me an idea about how much would it be paid for an illustration that will be printed on t-shirts? Per piece?

Thanks from now

Thanks

I love your pic, elegance! And what a great idea...it looks amazing.

if i had a scanner and i drew illustrations on paper, would the paper come on the computer as clear white?

as soon as i figure out how to do it, i'll post a few sketches...

WOW everyone style is so different, I LOVE it. When I figure out to post my illustration I want everyones opinion.

Maybe if you had a really top-end scanner... but usually, no. I find I have to adjust my stuff in photoshop after I scan it, for colours as well as contrast.

More to share...

um, this one is kind of old, I did it in 2 years ago for a contest to design a Barbie. I didn't get picked as a finalist... the world just isn't ready for a bald robot barbie I guess! I call her "fashion machine Barbie". You can tell I did her with markers, this was back before I had all that computer jazz I'm into now. I remember I was the only one who copied Barbie's proportions for the illustration... which I thought was kind of odd, because it seemed so obvious to me.

this is a design for a 17x11 poster to kind of be a promotional object for my line.

It started out as "I'm going to draw a fashion comic book!" but then I ran out of time so page 1 became a "poster"... my lame attempt to be arty:p

The fashion comic book idea has been drifting through my head a lot... it's a project I'd really like to do someday.

this is what my lecture notes at school look like! Notice I don't use lined paper, so in case my doodles are any good I can reclaim them! My priorities are all messed up... hehe.

p.s. JR1, this is what the scan looks like before adjustment... not so white.

Ah great stuff everyone! I love the style of your models mouko! And I really love that last sketchy one in particular finalfashion!

I'm a bit old school...I generally prefer hand drawn illustrations, I think using computers just takes away the personality because it's not so hands on, and it's too easy to produce a clone like image...hand drawn illustrations always have personality.

thanks fab_fifties_fille!

I use the computer for colouring in only, usually. I never mastered painting and never really liked any other kind of colouring until I started digitally colouring my stuff. Colouring manually is so hard because if you don't like what you've done you can't go back! But I've never been happy with my 100% digitally generated work... you're right, even with the tablet it lacks the liveliness of my pencil and ink sketches. So my general technique is to scan in my sketches and digitally adjust.

i lve to draw, i remember when my mom cut the net and that was when i started using paint and power point to draw on the compute, now i love it!!!

I think everyone's pictures are gorgeous!! mouko, LOVE your pics, they look hot!! ;)

I agree with you, fab. I do all my sketches by hand with graphite pencils and then add colour using either water colour pencils or gouache paint. I actually enjoy colouring manually because I kinda suck at digitally colouring . I only use technology to digitally enhance my work, i.e., make the colour more intense or if I've made any paint smudges on the original, I blot it out digitally ^_^.

but one thing for sure, doing things digitally can save you loads of time if u know how to do it the right way. i've been trying to get the techniques down right and honestly, it still just plain sucks!!!!!!!! hahahaa. i've never had good relationship with my computer.
this is my first attempt at painting a fashion sketch digitally.
it somehow doesn't have that "smooth" feel. would love to get pointers from all of you.:D
