TFS picks ... Favorite Shoes S/S 2008

I saw some lookbooks today for lanvin, balenciaga, dries van noten, marni, chloe etc...the usual suspects. the only shoes that wooed me were the sky high patent lanvin's posted previously in marine. they were serious stunners, fairly earthbound for $850 and very, very sexy for those who dare. balenciaga and marni were rather dull IMHO and chloe is so off track its not funny. dries was pretty but did not rock my boat this season. miu miu and prada seemed a bit comical but maybe that's the point. just some random impressions so far...don't take it too much to heart.

oh lucky i'm so excited. thanks for the review.
i'm looking for the patent platform lanvins (but in black...is marine blue? or black?). I'm in tokyo right now and went to two major stores but they hadn't ordered them. hopefully lanvin will have them when i hopefully make it to the store next week before i leave.

I've been trying to find the teacup Miu Miu shoes, but can't find them online anywhere. Anyone have some advice?

maybe those miu mius arent yet out? i mean, take saks for example, they have the same shoes they had at miu miu in december, i just guess it'll take a little time before they get them? if i was you i'd keep on checking, as they dont seem to have none of the spring shoes on sale yet :)

it's probably too early...

i checked for the lanvin heels and the store says they receive them in May!! is that normal? but online they'll be available by the end of march. strange.

good luck finding your miu miu s!

May seems late for spring shoes. I was hoping for March delivery as well. since they are not producing the Isabel Marant shoes I was hoping to get I think the Lanvin's in Marine will be on my list. My first pair of Lanvin's and navy patent.

I am loving these Manolo Blahnik Mary-Jane's. I am really into nude shoes right now... I want these!

Yeah, you're right, it does look that way on the black one, but not the green ... next time I get my hair cut, I'll stop in the Gucci store nearby if you haven't already reported back.

Checked out the shoes today ... I saw the black patent Mary Janes, and there's a pump with the same detail. The detail at the back is an oval flap, loosely attached with a double G for Gucci ornament. They're not nearly as cute in person ...

fashionista you beat me to it! i dont doubt that they look less cute in person... i generally dislike everything gucci makes (esp the shoes...)
as soon as ill have the time ill go take a look
for now, i love the idea of these pradas:
(saks.com)

but a) i fear they'd look ridiculos in person, b) i guess i really wouldnt know what to wear them with...

I saw those too, I love them and I don't know why!!!

Substitute for Zac Posen shoes

I've fallen desperately in love with a pair of shoes shown at the Zac Posen SS 08 show. Unfortunately, they are not in shops as the Zac Posen sales agent told me that all the shoes worn by the models at the show have been especially produced for the show and are not availabe to buy at all.

Now, I am looking for a kind of substitute. I need something to match dark chocolates as well as navy colours, also ivory, and a style that can be paired with dresses. And I am tired of metallics (gold, bronze).

In terms of shape, the YoYo CL come close to the Posens, but then, I think, they might be too high for every day (I am also having a baby), so maybe the Alaias might be a better choice - just slip on and off I'd go. It's difficult to find a hat-trick in between style and comfort - but flats just look blah with tight skirts or dresses.

Any recommendations on this? Which pair of shoes should I get? Thanks for your advice.

Wow..ladies and gents...thank you for all of the fabulous photos! I just breezed through all 11 pages and my favrites thus far are the lanvin studded heels, Manolo (burgundy lace up toe box) and the Pierre Hardy (Black with Tan elastic) fabulous!

Great thread.....

Here's a list of some of the interesting shoes we are getting at Jean Brown (Australia) for SS08. Shoe buying was enormously fun for ss08. I noticed quite a few of you had picked these as favourites so i thought id mention in case you have difficulty tracking them in US/UK...

McQueen: The square toe pump
Chloe: THe pink/white/grey shoe boot
Lanvin: The platform pump AND the return of the Cone heel (!)
Marni: The colour block runway wedge (cut-out)
Prada: The runway Shoe Boot
Miu Miu: Candlestick holder heel
