There's tons missing.. tons of corrections and additions need to be made..it was taken pretty early in the game.. for example, I'm no expert when it comes to girl's campaigns but I'm pretty sure Freja Beha did Balenciaga and she isn't listed.. and Stam also did BCBG with Caroline Trentini.. and wasn't Diana Dondoe in the Jean Paul Gaultier ads?

But I figure its a start..

just like loz said, the next thing is campaigns. we need to decide which campaigns are going to be included and whether we limit this to just ads for clothes or are we going to include ads for perfumes and cosmetics?

so i compiled a list of the FW05 campaigns. i know it's not a complete list and it might be missing a few models and a few big name ads, so please feel free to tell me (or anyone else for that matter) what to add list if you think that it is a big name campaign. likewise, please tell if a campaign should not be on the list. e.g. I put Strenesse on because i think Diana Dondoe is a big name model but Strenesse is probably not a big name brand. I only really included models who i think will be in the top25/30 and those who are not icons because this list is about working models (so i didn't put Gisele on the list even though she did JPG). but then again, i think i left some icons in there who probably shouldn't be in there and so if i did, please tell (i'm too lazy to check hehe)

ok pretty good list... the only ones i'd take off personally would be cesare paciotti and custo barcelona because I've never heard of them... thanks for the fleur! ;) karma to you. Now we just have to make up a super list type thing.... ill see what i can do

Who is the best ad model? For me I'll choose Bianca Balti, she's the most versatile.....Take a look at her Donna Karan, Missoni, Roberto Cavalli and Anna Milinari ads she looks different in each one.

Natalia, Daria, Gisele are always the same.

I think Cesare Paciotti is known for hiring some pretty A-List models though...

Some of their previous campaigns have starred.... Carolyn Murphy, Jessica Miller (/w Sean De Wet), Caroline Ribiero, Bridget Hall, and Angela Lindvall

you guys are doing a great job! so i was wondering, how are you going to "weight" these things? for example, imo at least, i feel that ad campaigns reach more people than runway shows (in the sense that almost everyone buys magazines, flips through them, etc whereas i think much less people get to see shows or even pics from shows), so that being the case, should major ad campaigns be given more weight than major runway shows? i'm not sure how you want to do this irresistable_loz, but its just something to consider when compiling the list. :flower:

Hmm to add, how about the campaign that it is? Will that make a difference because say a runway show like Prada and Miu miu are much harder to book than one of another designer. Being on the Prada runway can really really boost your career.

I think campaigns definitely hold more weight than shows in some cases. For me, I think the high exposure campaigns are more significant. I know Armani, Chanel, Burberry, Dior, Gucci, Prada and Ralph Lauren are HUGE with advertising.. I see those ads in basically every fashion mag I pic up, in Australia at least. Then I'd say Escada and Hugo Boss. I'm not sure which campaigns are most visible overseas so I guess we have to figure that out.

One other thing i've notices is that Perfume ads are absolutely huge, I see them everywhere. Therefore there has to be a lot of weight placed on them. I know all Calvin Kleins ads, particularly Obsession Night and Euphoria, Prada parfum and Lancome Hypnose are huge at the moment at least.

Can everyone write down the top 7 most visible campaigns in their opinion??

i definitely agree with your comments re: perfume ads...a cosmetic campaign i assume is huge too, coz those also are everywhere in just about any magazine a woman might happen to pick up lol

hmm i'm no good at this sort of thing

but top 7 most visible, maybe:

Calvin Klein
Dior
Prada
Gucci
YSL
Donna Karan
Ralph Lauren

I'm pretty certain about the first 4, the rest i'm sorta iffy on. you know, when you mentioned armani, the scary thing is for a moment i couldnt even conjure up their ad campaign...i had to go digging through my harper's bazaar october issue to find one. but maybe thats just because i dont find the ads interesting this season?

Calvin Klein Collection (but only natalia does tht)
Prada
Yves St Laurent
Gucci
Christian Dior
Chanel
Dolce & Gabanna (not D&G)

and as for perfume and cosmetics, those are pretty big. Cover girl is extremely commercial but Tiiu was said to be paid over a million for that, CK obsession, Prada Perfume, its hard to say because so many of these companies make several perfumes.

ok.. here are my thoughts. (I've actually made another thread on most important campaigns for a model.. we might get some extra opinions).

Cosmetic campaigns i think are good and bad. The problem I find with them, despite them being everyhwere, is that the models aren't always that recognisable after the make up artists finish mutilating their perfect faces (e.g lipstick blindfolds, etc. ) Not always true, because I clearly remember Lisa Cant as current Chanel cosmetics, but cant think of too many others.

Ok. Heres how i think it should be weighted

1 point : Every top 35 show a model gets
5 points: Minor fashion campaign
5 points: Cosmetics campaigns
10 points: Major fashion campaigns
15 points: Major perfume campaign

Major perfumes would be the highly advertised ones. Off the top of my head I'd say J'adore by Dior, CK Obsession Night & Euphoria, Prada parfum & Lancome Hypnose currently. Add any you see everywhere, coz australian mags have different campaigns to europe/america

Major fashion I'd say would be: Burberry, Calvin Klein, Chanel, Dior, Prada, Gucci, YSL, Donna Karan and Ralph Lauren.

If you guys want to add or adjust the list feel free :flower:

i think perfume campaigns should have the same pts as fashion campaigns or maybe weighted as 12.5 and cosmetics campaigns could be like a 7.5 (according to loz's pt system) because cosmetics campaigns are important too imo. also on the note of perfumes, what about the campaigns that are not in that list of major campaigns? are they gonna be counted as well? e.g. Elise Crombez did Nina Ricci Perfume - is that a major campaign and if not, is that gonna be counted? cos i dun think Nina Ricci is that minor a campaign...but definitely not major like CK obsession night.

also for minor fashion campaigns, is that just all the ones that aren't in the major section? cos if that is the case, we'll have a big difference in the campaigns. e.g. Hermes and Sonia Rykiel. so perhaps we should separate the minor campaigns section and/or separate the major campaigns section as well. either way, i think we should have a greater pts range to differentiate between all the different campaigns and their "worth".

About major campaigns, we should add the campaigns for the 35 shows into the list, add other stuff that probably werent' on the list of 35 shows but are big campaigns and then separate them into different groups according to how "major" they are. (hehe hope you guys can understand what i mean...)

anyway, so should i remove cesare paciotti from the list? i'll remove custo barcelona though. anymore adjustments?

Thats really true...

maybe... these following shows can maybe be worth 1.5 points or something

Prada --- trendmaker
Christian Dior --- always a talked about show
Miu Miu --- ditto to Prada
Louis Vuitton --- Exposure! Usually closes fashion week.
Marc Jacobs --- Most Influential show in NY.. "only show that matters"
Versace --- Exposure! Internationally known brand
YSL --- Always talked about
Chanel --- Legendary House
Gucci --- Big Brand Name
Calvin Klein --- Big Brand Name plus.. I find they're usually picky in choosing girls

I was thinking of including Lanvin, Balenciaga, Burberry, Valentino, Dolce & Gabbana, Chloe, Alexander McQueen... but I was afraid the list would be too long

maybe we should have 3 levels of campaigns, cause many of our models have more commercial campaigns

lower campaigns(5 points), mid campaigns (7.5 points), high campaigns (10 points)

lower being DKNY, Philosophy, Paul and Joe, Jil Stuart, Valentino red, ck jeans, ck choice, lacoste, abercrombie etc

mid being Jil Sander, Marc by Marc, Alberta Ferreti, anna sui, ck, Akris, Kenzo, BCBG, Miu Miu, Donna Karan etc

high campaigns being Dior, Chanel, Prada, Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein Collection, YSL, Balenciaga, Hermes, Gucci etc

how does everyone feel about that?

the thing is we need to decide which campaigns are low, mid and high. easiest to do this imo is to start by highs. so:
Dior, Chanel, Prada, Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein, YSL, Gucci, Balenciaga, Valentino, Versace, Lanvin, anything else?

if the list becomes to big then, then perhaps we could have mid-high section as well for those ones that don't really belong to mid but aren't really high as well. the lows could be like some small campaign (e.g. Giordano in HK or something like that. it should be counted because they did do it)

looking back at the guidelines loz posted a while ago, it said it could be FW05 and/or SS05 but i think just FW 05 is enough. also about the shows, are we going to give points for all the shows they did or are just going to give points for the major 35 shows? are we still going to give points for opening and closing the show?

Hermes and Balenciaga should be "mid" IMO

Hmm well its just an example for now i guess, And now i was thinking about doing the same for runway shows since models do so many and a large variety of shows. It would be really tiresome to count up points that way but if we got a group of us to do a certain number of models each, it would probaly be easier than the original way...ideas ideas ideas.

If we do it this way we could let irressistable_loz to pick who she would trust in doing the point counting since this is her original idea...but in the end this is just a proposal...

You know.. I wonder how Models.com does it.. they don't list their criteria.. say like... USNEWS does with ranking colleges...
