Hi guys, I haven't posted here in AGES but I'm glad to see you are all going so strong. I can't believe how many movies a human being consumes in a year! I never think I can motivate myself to watch movies, but a pretty bad thing happened to me this week and I consumed like, 10 movies already this weekend in trying to get over it. It's been really fun. I think it's actually possible that I could see 100 movies this year without really "trying".
Some comments on movies mentioned in this page:
Back to the Future II is easily one of my top 10 films of all time.
I really enjoyed Adjustment Bureau -- one of my favourite 2011 movies, 4/5. I thought Source Code was a better "version" of that movie, though, (a sci-fi romance that came out the same year).
The Brothers Bloom -- this is directed by Rian Johnson, and I'd really recommend his first film "Brick" to everyone, starring Joseph Gordon Levitt. Amazingly innovative film, while TBB is a little..... misguided in comparison.
I loved Margin Call! Thought it was great, and sooooooooo many good-looking guys it's ridiculous.
25. Wedding Crashers - a 5/5 film for me, an absolute favourite. This movie has a BILLION movie stereotypes, and it kind of drives me CRAZY, but I'm obsessed with Owen Wilson and Vince and he are incredibly, incredibly charming and funny. It's just a funny, enjoyable movie. I also have listened to the commentary where Owen and Vince just shoot the ****. Adorable.
26. The Devil Wears Prada - 4/5 film for me. I've seen this a few times and I don't get tired of it. Anne's a little annoying, and I hate how Patricia Field styled her (like a person with absolutely no style, just a mannequin for clothes -- which I know, is exactly Anne's character, but still -- wouldn't it have been nice if she gradually gained a sense of style through osmosis at Vogue?) but god, Meryl is just so damn amazing.
27. Anchorman -- 3/5. This film has grown on me over the years, like Zoolander. I think a lot of the humour, like Steve Carell's character, is stupid, but it's just a funny, enjoyable film.
28. A League of their Own -- 5/5 old favourite. I've been playing softball lately. I haven't seen this film in years. I was really, really struck by how hilarious Tom Hanks is in this film -- his character is such a drunk, sarcastic *******, the performance is inspired -- and I was really struck by how beautiful and sexy Geena Davis is. I think I should watch Thelma and Louise.
29. Picture Perfect -- 5/5 1997 Rom-Com starring Jennifer Aniston and Kevin Bacon. It's adorable, very Bridget Jones-y. I recommend it to Aniston fans FOR SURE. Perfect film if you're around 30 years old and you're sad about your career and love life going nowhere.
30. Old School -- 4.5/5 old favourite. Luke Wilson is bloody adorable and I worship Will Ferrell.
31. Miss Congeniality -- 3/5. It's a really cute film, but god, Sandra Bullock's character is such a judgemental ******* for the first half of the film that I can hardly take it. I kind of hate how every Sandy Bullock film is her being some disgusting pig who is secretly beautiful, I mean give me a break, yet I won't stop watching her films : ) They're too fun. She really is beautiful too, and so unique looking.
