It must be a rule because it's not Van Marwijk's style to just take it off because he can't take a loss. Which he can.

Broken ribs? Ouch, that must hurt really bad. Thanks cloudy, we do accept, life goes on, we all have to get back to work or school, but it wasn't all our part that match.

Yeah, he is so professional that I dont think he would have done that otherwise, but as I said it's some kind of rule, has something to do with giving respect for the winning team if I understood correctly.;)

I'm back after a beautiful day outside - back to football for the last time ;)

I am still appalled by how dirty and aggressive Holland´s game was, and the referee´s lack of intervention.
But I´m also amazed by some of the posts here. I mean, I know that a lot of you are from Holland but reading some posts from people trying to justify the fouls and kicks that were way out of line is incredible. Common sense people. Spain played really weel, and Holland must have been scared to death to think that playing rambo was their only way to win. Talk aboul lack of confidence. Well deserve Spain
Oh so, whats your excuse... if other teams play dirtier then its ok.??.. Brazil plays very dirty and they let them get away with almost anything, just because they are Brazil... but they werený even there yesterday....
totalmente de acuerdo! :flower:
ja,ja made me laugh! Yeah, I did not see Melo yesterday either

i am soooo happy that Diego Forlán won the Golden Ball award - he was by far the most outstanding player in the whole tournament! without doubt - he represented the whole team - he was present in every important situation in every game he participated...it was amazing! he gave the Uruguayan team such a positive 'face' with his actions, strength and magnificent football skills!!!!
They were not bad losers! ;)
This is actually some kind of a 'rule' that the silver medalist coach (I am not sure about the players) take the medal off when they leave the podium, that's what our commentator said.
thank you for explain
Exactly CharmingNicky !!! you are right! it is an old tradition that the loser oft he final game take it off and then makes the Arc-De-Triomphe (arch) where the winner passes by after receiving the medal and walk through as a respect-gesture for the Winner – it happens in every WC – so the Dutch did nothing outstanding – it’s common - it’s like the common handshake between 2 coaches after an important game

that's no excuse and it seems you don't know what I mean..
And I don't think we are bad losers. Did you have seen what our players did after the match. A lot of our players know some Spanish plays personal, they've played years together, as example Puyol and Van Bronckhorst.

I never said you were bad losers.. I dont think that. I love what they did after the game.

Yay Spain !!!
I got a fan of them in the last game!! They totally captured me yesterday.
Sure, this wasn't their best game ... tbh it was a desaster! A final game, full of fouls and cards .. baaad.. Holland .. omg
But spain was on the ball, didn't gave up and did such a great job!
Even If they beat us germans, well deserved!

And BIG congrats to Müller for the golden boot and the best young player trophae ! What an honour!! He was such a killer this WC, this is awesome !!

Bye bye WC ! I'll miss u! :(

Viva Deutschland !

I have to say, I think Germany was the best team, until the semi-final against Spain.

^^ we played the best football in the Euros and didn't get anywhere. Looking from our side of view; playing well did not get us anywhere.

We played like Germans this whole tournament and it landed us in the final.

Um no you did not. :flower::rolleyes:

haha are people serious???? Holland wanted to disrupt the Spanish game at all cost and should have been left to 9 at half time.

It would have been a real disgrace is if they won and I was actually rooting for them before the game.

They lsot, deal with it and actually learn how to pass the ball isntead of practicing karate moves on a football field.

Loveeed all party in Spain today very funny the players

Brazil plays dirtier than the Netherlands? It's not because Felipe Melo, who's been really criticized by his violent behaviour, commited that horrible foul on Robber, the whole team is now 'dirty'. At least I haven't seen anyone doing kung fu in the middle of a football match.

I'm really happy for Spain! They totally deserved to win! I'm also happy for Müller, Forlán & Casillas

And most of you said the whole Dutch team played dirty, but it were only De Jong en Van Bommel who played too rude. And I'll say it again, he deserved red! And Heitinga really didn't deserve that second yellow card.

Besides that, I'm tired of Dutch fans defending the Dutch team by saying that they had to play dirty because it was the finals. That's an awful explanation. Even though I rooted for Spain, I would have been still happy if Holland won but after seeing their play I changed my mind. Whether it was the last game or not they shouldn't have played that dirty.

^^ Nobody ever said that we had to play dirty. But we couldn't have gone on full attack either. (as the football lovers would want. We all want) That would have gone wrong either way.

We have our fair share of *ssholes on the field. They play hard, we know. We played hard, but both teams had their fair share of fouls. Just saying it again.

I think if Spain lost that final, all the people who were rooting for Spain had done exactly the same. And it's just the day after.
