The 2010 Winter Olympics: Vancouver, Canada

I was just watching women's bobsleigh and Canada won Gold and Silver.
good for them ! :woot:

there was just a little update on the medal standings on ctv and he said Korea i think, wasnt paying too much attention, was disqualified in womens speed skating giving the gold to china..
does anyone know what happened there ?

Don't even get me started with Canada- Russia hockey game... Soooooo dissapointed with that match!
Oh, poor guys... But well, Kovalchuk and Ovechkin is still LOVE for me

PS: Canada to the GOLD

Just watched the ladies 3000m relay on short track. and uhhh, i dont understand why the Koreans got disqualified. i didnt think the "clicking" of the blades between them and the Chinese were really all that severe and thought it was actually pretty routine, i barely saw it until they replayed it in slow-mo. I feel bad for the Korean skaters because they obviously out skated everyone and the DQ announcement took a long time and the Korean skaters were already holding their flags to celebrate; imagine how embarrassing that must have been for them.

This is like when JR Celski got disqualified during one of his races for some blade clicking and bumping when it wasn't even his fault, nor he did it on purpose.

Can't wait to see the aerial jumps all over the news since winning it has officially made vancouver the most successful winter games for Australia with 2 gold and 1 silver lol

OMG it's Finland-Czech in hockey :woot: :woot: cant wait!
Yeah! :woot:
It took almost 54 minutes before any goal but then, after I was losing my hope, they did it! Gosh! USA, here we come :bounce:

Canada-Slovakia

February 27

From what I remember, the Korean leader slightly overtook the Chinese skater & nudged her with her hand, thus it slowed down the Chinese skater considerably.

In some angles it's hard to see, but a few of the perspective shots clearly showed what happened. I didn't expect Korea to be DQed just for that, but I guess they did.

Tell me about it :woot::woot: it's gonna be so hard!!
When I asked my bf how the game ended he was like: " We won but the best part is that Sweden lost their game"

Holy Crap! USA takes gold and silver in the Nordic Combined! A sport in which we never medalled prior to these Olympics. AMAZING! OMG! I'm so ecstatic! Demong and Spillane!!!!!!!!!!

Too bad NBC decided that this historic medal event didn't deserve to be broadcasted live. I'm officially sick of their coverage.

NBC will probably cut most of tonight's ladies figure skating finals and show it. They usually show precorded footage of USA winning on sports that they aren't favorable to win; especially if the sport isn't that "popular". Might be wrong on this since the only other sport showing tonight is freestyle skiing.

Yeah, I figured that would happen because Nordic Combined isn't a popular sport in the Olympics, at least not yet. But congrats to the US team! A medal is a medal.

YU-NA KIM WON! Very much deserved. Seriously, in Korea she is bombarded almost daily by the media.

Mao Asada was great also, but her jumps were really iffy.

Much respect to Joannie, but I still think her short program and now her free skate were both over scored. Her jumps first off were not nearly as great as Miki Ando's. And her lines and spins were worse than Miki's yet they gave her great execution marks for them. But she has home court advantage and judges usually give out free points to those representing that country. Even though I think her free skate was overscored, I think she still deserved that bronze.

I wonder why Miki Ando still thinks she can win competitions by just relying on jumps alone. Seriously, all the other skaters can do the same jumps as her. It's not like she's doing quads or at the very least triple axels. Especially with the fact that Mao Asada is the only skater attempting triple axels but still lose out to Kim Yu-Na.

Mirai Nagasu was fantastic, what a great way to end the competition!

All in all, the Top 6 really did perform great.

Why couldn't the men's and pairs finals be like this? The men's and pairs finals were filled with mistakes. It was like a battle of who ever makes the fewest falls.

I'm really sad that the US streak in women's figure skating has come to an end, but WOW Kim Yu-Na! That free skate was amazing; everything looked so effortless. I'm really happy she got her gold! But with a 150.06 as a score, there was no doubt who was taking it home.

It's sad too that the US and Russia aren't producing the same high quality figure skaters (in the ladies side) lately. But Mirai Nagasu is fantastic. She's definitely the future for the US.

^Yes, I agree! I'm really looking forward to Mirai Nagasu's performances in future national and world competitions. I don't doubt that if she keeps on par with this level of performance, she'll be a medal contender in Sochi.

^Mirai will be a great contender in the upcoming years...love her!

This is probably the first time in a long time that I was absolutely thrilled to see the final top 3 placement for women's figure skating in the Olympics (The Kwan fan in me is talking here, ha) - all very well-deserved :) Yu-Na Kim is the queen, that's for sure.

Congrats to Yuna! Wonderful, engaging performance. I never realized how immense pressure she was experiencing going into this event.

Oh and congrats to Jeret "Speedy" Peterson for gold in Aerials! Had to acknowledge that.
