Kim Yu-na's short program was really great, but her FS performance was sheer perfection. She managed to make everything look so easy... just incredible.

Congrats to Yuna! Wonderful, engaging performance. I never realized how immense pressure she was experiencing going into this event.

Oh and congrats to Jeret "Speedy" Peterson for gold in Aerials! Had to acknowledge that.

Oops, I meant to say silver. Congrats for silver!

YU-NA KIM WON! Very much deserved. Seriously, in Korea she is bombarded almost daily by the media.

Mao Asada was great also, but her jumps were really iffy.

Much respect to Joannie, but I still think her short program and now her free skate were both over scored. Her jumps first off were not nearly as great as Miki Ando's. And her lines and spins were worse than Miki's yet they gave her great execution marks for them. But she has home court advantage and judges usually give out free points to those representing that country. Even though I think her free skate was overscored, I think she still deserved that bronze.

I wonder why Miki Ando still thinks she can win competitions by just relying on jumps alone. Seriously, all the other skaters can do the same jumps as her. It's not like she's doing quads or at the very least triple axels. Especially with the fact that Mao Asada is the only skater attempting triple axels but still lose out to Kim Yu-Na.

Mirai Nagasu was fantastic, what a great way to end the competition!

All in all, the Top 6 really did perform great.

Why couldn't the men's and pairs finals be like this? The men's and pairs finals were filled with mistakes. It was like a battle of who ever makes the fewest falls.
Mao's two(!) triple axels were magnificent. The first one alone was phenomenal. The height, the rotations, the landing...she made it look so easy. To think that some of the male skaters (*cough* Lambiel *cough*) can't even land ONE. Also, her choreography was IMO the best of the night. The black gloves that she wore helped to enhance the gracefulness of the choreography. IMO Yu-Na was overscored. 23 points above Mao? That's madness! Yu-Na looked like a robot out there.

I do agree that Joannie was overscored. But regardless, it was good to see her win the bronze. I can't imagine what the last several days have been like for her. :(

And as far as the men's and pairs' competitions: I thought that those competitions were more exciting and more competitive. Whereas the ladies' competition was Yu-Na's to lose.

I am preparing to take my words back. OMG, just 10 minutes played :ninja:

This is disaster, even worse!!! We need the God himself now. And I was making hamburgers, that we could eat Americans. They doesn`t taste so good now.

Argh  It´s easy for you to laugh.

I am so disappointed, Finland screw it up big time.

Well, it is just a game

My love goes out to Mao Asada, and it always will. I agree that Yuna Kim deserved to win, but only because she skated very clean. Mao Asada is so much more stylistic and elegant and passionate. Her program components score should have been much higher.

But even being Canadian, I cannot say that Joannie Rochette deserved bronze. Of course, I give my respects to her mother and admire her courage to skate...but this is still figure skating and the person with the better skate deserves to win. Bronze belonged to either Mirai Nagasu or Miki Ando. Or even Rachel Flatt. But not Joannie Rochette.

I'm actually looking at their score cards and what the judges gave them each for each element and it looks like Mao Asada's jumps weren't as cleanly landed. They didn't give her as many grade of execution scores.

Yu-Na Kim actually got the most grade of execution scores for her jumps and her overall skating quality (transitions, footwork, choreography, execution, interpretion) were the highest also.

I agree that Mao's overall choreography was the best of the night. Based on that opinion, I don't see why the judges gave Joannie Rochette higher program component scores than Mao Asada. If Mao didn't have the lead on her after the short program Joannie could have actually become 2nd place after the long program.

Mao scored 131.72 while Joannie scored 131.28 for their free skate. Mao had a stronger performance overall so I don't see how the judges thought they were virtually tied.:innocent:

Yu-Na Kim's artistry, and especially her technical abilities, are brilliant. She was as light as a feather on the ice, and her performance was flawless from every aspect you could judge her on. Her skating is incredible, the epitome of subtle elegant and grace. She doesn't need to rely on dramatics. Some may think she skated "clean" or "looked like a robot", but I take it as a testament to her talent to make such a difficult program look so simple and casual.

Mao's choreography was much more darker and dramatic, but her technical abilities aren't quite up there. Skating performances aren't just based on how many complicated maneuvers you can dish out. Her program was less about artistry and more about loading up as many complicated jumps as possible. Besides, she fumbled on her second triple axel, and completely butchered a triple spin because her skates caught together. So she got downgraded on those.
