The 4-5 piece French wardrobe #5

@RedandNavy love your purchases, especially the swimsuit, chic!

@Trenchcoat & Betinapple go with your gut feeling I would say.

I didn't go shopping last wednesday due to a cold, so next wednesday I'm off, if nothing else interferes. :P

@Red: I totally understand you need for an extra coat. I am also looking to add another coat (a woolen, more classic chic one) to my selection next winter - or perhaps during the sales. I really like your down coat - very chic, which I think is hard to find in that sort of coat. Great swimsuit too. Excactly the kind of style I would prefer. I am thinking of staring swimming again too.

@Trenchcoat: I really like the detailing - especially the shoulders. I find the positioning of the pockets a tad unflattering though.

@Nymphaea:
It definetly depends on my gut feeling when I try it on tomorrow, but I would still like to know what you guys think about wearing wool during the summer.

^If it's thin delicate wool (summerlooking) I would wear it during the summer, but it really depends also on the amount of isolation it gives. I wouldn't wear heavy chuncky wool (winterlooking) during the summer. I think your cardigans for summer can act as a very good comparison for wool summer skirts to buy. But I'm no expert, I don't have any woolen skirts.

That was excactly my thought. The wool skirts I have in my wardrobe are thick or otherwise winter-y. This one looks my delicate. I'll have to see tomorrow. I am sort of in a dilemma since a bag I have been pondering over for a long time, and ended up selling out, sort of to my regret, just turned op on a danish version of ebay, and although I could afford both, I think I have been shopping plenty lately.

I returned the block-heeled boots and bought myself 4 days in London instead, including plane tickets. I loved the idea of the shoes, but I couldn't escape the feeling that they were all wrong for some reason. I can look for shoes in London in the january sales:mrgreen: I have located a store that sells burgundy wool sweaters and Porselli flats. Praying they will have some left when I get there!

RedandNavy: That coat looks so luxurious and warm!

Trenchcoat: Did you try the Zara coat on yet?

Betina: The lady I talked has not responded to my message yet, so I still have him. The guilt about keeping him left as soon as I sent her a message. I've done my part... If I can sort something out with my family, maybe I can have him forever.

Good decission about the shoes, if that is how you feel  Hope everything turns out for the best, with your kitten. And I am so jealous of you going to London! Appearently we are going to get some kind of compensation for the time we have had to do without a kitchen due to the water damage in our apartment (or, so I've heard). Depending on how big an amount it will be I am contemplating trying to convince my boyfriend that we should add a bit of money to whatever we'll get, and go on a short vacation.

Yes I tried in on. I'm shorter than the model so the sleeves aren't short for me. I really like the coat.

I'm going to Paris in March. Does anyone know if there is sale in that month. And what are the fashion hotspots?

^Maybe there is a mid-season sale? The spring/summer sale is later and the Winter sale is jan/feb I think.

I think there is a thread about Paris shopping in the shop till you drop thread.

Like the swimsuit, R&N, and pretty coat, Trenchcoat!

betina, I've had good luck with tropical-weight wool in the summer (mine is very hot), and I'll wear wool crepe if I really need to.

Thanks for the nice words on my coat and swimsuit.

Regarding the swimsuit: I like swimsuits in black and navy. In general I am a very colorful person, but when it comes to a bikini or swimsuit, I like things to be simple. Everything else is just distracting. Some solid colors can look fine but in general I dislike prints in swimwear.

Trenchcoat: Did you buy the coat? It looks lovely. Have you seen it in person? I think I would like to see in it person to judge the quality. I've made some really good but also some very bad experiences with Zara's quality in the past. But if you think the quality is fine, go ahead! It's beautiful!

Skirts: I own wool skirts that are too heavy for summer, but I also own lightweight wool pants that are great in warm weather. Totally depends on how thick it is. Wool is a great material though!

Next buys: I definitely need two more warm sweaters. I think I'd rather buy them in the sales though. I've made the experience that knits are something that you can easily get at reduced prices, especially since there are always several styles that I like.

Red: I understand how you feel about solids for svimwear. I do like colour and patterns (sometimes), but I prefer my underwear being in solids, and often black.

Hope you'll find some knitwear that you like

Thank you for your advice regarding the skirt. Went and tried it on today and purchased it. It is perfect and very lightweight (and produced in Estonia, not China, Bangladesh og India). I will take som pictures once I get to be home during the day, probably Sunday, since it is dark outside from 4 pm to 8 am at my location, these days.

When my friend and I went for lunch afterwards we passed a new thrift shop. I told her that we could NOT go in since my shopping karma is a bit too good at the moment, but she told me that she would prevent me from buying anything. When we left I had purchased a dress. Oh well. It cost next to nothing and is perfect for casual everyday wear. It is checkered black/white and sort of Isabel Marant-ish in the cut.

Later we went to the ACNE store since I had to check out a scarf I am contemplating purchasing for my boyfriend (since he thought his own scarf was not good enough anymore, after he felt how soft my new BOSS scarf is). I have been eyeing the tall pistol boots for a while now so I had to try them on, and they are amazing and I really liked the look (and the warmth) they added to my outfit (a short, black shift dress). I think I will try and save my money so maybe I can buy them in a couple of months. They would be perfect to have for winter, but I do not have the money right now - and they are a classic, so even if I wont get to wear them that much this season, I will have them for next winter.)

^ That is too funny about your shopping karma! I like the boots.

Isn't it funny that R&N, usually crazy for color, goes very conservative with swimwear, and Jinadaze, normally completely monotone, splashes out with her bikinis

PS Wore my polka dot ballets for the first time this season today, and got compliments on them from two women in the elevator on the way in to work. Then one of the women says to her friend, deadpan--We need polka dots on our shoes. There's always Wite-out, I told them

Hi all

It turns out that the workwear for my job is as formal as I want it to be; we're doing administrative work and some people wear jeans. I only own one pair of jeans, but I now know it wouldn't be a problem

Nice buys, RedandNavy! I especially like the swimsuit.

I don't have any experience with wool skirts or trousers, Betina... I guess you'll have to see/feel the skirt irl to make that decision.

@Ta-ta: well, since I had just bought the skirt and almost bought a bag as well, I knew it was bound to go wrong. I can not remember the last times I bought 3 items in one day - during the past three months I only bought three things.

I really love the boots as well! And they got me to add a few more things to my sales-profile on Trendsales (danish site a bit like e-bay) - win win!

The world definetely needs more polkadots! Maybe I should wear my polkadot shirt soon. Did you end up getting those polkadot pants you were talking about?

@Barbaraa: nice to know that you will be able to get buy with your current wardrobe - that way you can spend your first sallary on something more exciting than workwear  and again, congratulations.

The skirt is very lightweight, so I decided it would be fine for summer, and bought it.

______________

I am all shopped out! Thursday I bought the skirt and a dress and yesterday morning I clicked "purchase" on that bag I was talking about earlier. So I think I am all set for now. I will do my best not to buy anything since I like to take a "break" and see how my new things work out, and also because I think I would really like those ACNE boots. If I try really hard to save my money and sell some of the things I do not use, I might be able to afford them for January or February, so I'll do my best.

Polkadots: Always so cute, pretty, fun! I definitely love polkadots!

Betinapple: I love my pistol short boots because they are stylish and comfy, so I guess the tall ones would be just as cool! Certainly worth to save!!

Betina[:b], save for the high knew pistols boots. You won't regret it. I love mine (especially since I paid 176£ for them - I don't like the design enough to pay full price) and I wasn't very convinced by the short ones (this length just look wrong on me).
I also got the Newbury high knee length boots - very comfortable!

Right now, I mainly shop for shoes (3 pairs of boots purchased) and coats (3 coats purchased). I think I will buy 2-3 handbags and that will be it for me this season. I need to focus on getting more fine jewellery and I don't really have the time to look for items etc online. Way too much to do and plan.

I had to invest so much in shoes because I too got a job and they expect us to wear skirts only and black shoes. I couldn't change at work to ballerina (and it is called anyway) so I had to invest in very sturdy boots. Rag & Bone and ACNE do the trick so far. I prefer to save my Zanotti for better things than work !

Eizohwa, when are you coming? Would love to meet

Red, gorgeous swimsuit !!

barbara, hope the first day went well ! Coming to Lisbon the 1st week-end of may during bank holiday for 3 days ! Need to email the details to you

I love the acne boots. But I think the ankle boots look better.

Yesterday I've made a college of my favourite outfits of Jeanne Damas. I adore her style. And I saw that her best outfits include basics, red lipstick and messy hair. She is my inspiration for buying new things for my wardrobe!!

betina, I did indeed buy the polka dot pants! Which is the bag you bought? Do you have it pinned?

Thank you Eva  The first week went well - I'm super exhausted, however. Slept in until noon today

And yes, Betina, I'm glad I won't have to splurge on workwear. I'll probably save most of my earnings, which is not very exciting, but I bought a red winter coat. I've always wanted a red coat but I never found them to be very versatile so I couldn't justify buying one. Now I thought I'd buy it to celebrate my getting a job
