The 4-5 piece French wardrobe combinations thread

I could use your help..

I thrifted this leotard when I visited my mother last week. It is really lovely, 100% soft wool and with a nice lace detail. I am not sure what to wear it with though. How would you style it? You can see a part of my wardrobe on my pinterest account (here)

If I do not come up with anything I will just use it for layering since it is so nice and warm, but I think it is too pretty not to be shown off.

^Will the proportions be way off if you paired it with one of your black skirts and stockings? Seems like the easiest way to wear it. Or maybe it is too cold?

I think it would be fine. Especially with my a-line skirt. I just have to get used to wearing fitted tops again. ATM it is too cold to wear that combination without a cardigan/little jacket/scarf too though, but I guess it wont stay cold forever.

Thanks for your advice :)

Betina: Really looking forward to seeing how your Acne boots will look on you! * hint hint *

I am eyeing a pair myself...

Haha. I will take a picture for you as soon as possible, but really I have not been taking a lot of photos lately since I haven't been posting on my blog. Also my selfie spot in the apartment (I feel very hip having a spot in my home dedicated to such a thing..) is currently blocked my moving-boxes -.- I'll see what I can do. I can say however, that I am very happy with them! Also they are a bit nicer to wear currently than my ancle boots, since it is sooo cold.

Should we put some life into this thread again?

Today I wore:

- Grey slimfit jeans (Thrifted, February 2013)
- White peplum tee (NLY Trend, April 2014)
- Black ballet flats (Bloch, October or November 2012)
- Black quilt coat (Noa Noa, April 2014)
- MJ stam bag (2nd hand, June 2012)
- Prada Baroque sunglasses (July 2012 I think)

Betina: The coat just seems to get better and better!

I have come to the conclusion that as long as I get to wear cropped trousers and ballet flats, I am happy with my outfit no matter how derivative or repetitive it is. I think I have worn my orange Porsellis with cropped grey jeans for weeks now:angel:

This is what I have been wearing for the better part of this month:

^I KNOW, right? :D

I have the same tendency as you - lately it feels like I have mostly been wearing my black full skirt, stripe l/s blouse, flat ancle boots and navy down jacket.

Really love your combinations, especially the one with the stripe tee. I will definetly have to try that with my own wardrobe.

Today I wore grey jeans (cropped) and black ballet flats (felt very Eizhowa ;)) paired with this InWear shirt I bought a couple of years ago, my Mulberry Bayswater (bought 2nd hand 4 years ago and still going strong..) and the Prada sunnies and the coat from my previous post.

I haven't worn the shirt very much because I have been so afraid to stain it, but I have decided that if I want to continue buying silk items I have to know that I will wear them. Pretty clothes are for wearing, not sitting in ones closet. I felt so great wearing it, it is really comfortable and perfect for a hot day like this where I wanted to be covered up a bit still - and I did not worry about staining it and it survived the day as well. All in all a huge succes.

One of my favorite outfits at the moment is:

  • orange sweater, Acne
  • Grey jeans, Nudie Jeans
  • Grey perforated leather sneakers, Vans
  • Tortoise clubmasters, Rayban

Actually most of my outfits revolve around these jeans or a similar pair in a dark blue wash.

Very me indeed;)

The blouse is lovely, and I have the same problem you mentioned, Betina. I often buy very beautiful clothes that I feel are too dressy or delicate to wear... I have gotten better at avoiding those purchases though. Right now I am resisting a brown draped Vanessa Bruno dress on Ebay^_^ I still haven't worn my other beautiful Vanessa Bruno dress much yet, so buying another sounds less than ideal.

I've noticed that I have become much more of a jeans and t-shirt kind of girl. Maybe the hipster in me refuses to look like she's made an effort? I don't know:lol:

Fewormany: I really like the outfit! I am a huge fan of grey jeans, so how could I not?:D

@Fewormany: I love, love, love (!) the combination of the grey, white, orange and tortoise! So cool.

@Eizhowa:
the rust coloured dress? Really a bad habit we have both of us. I think the solution is to decide that clothes are for wearing AND buying things that perhaps are not TOO delicate.

Funny you mention, I have also been wearing jeans a lot this week and generally dress more casual. I have recently noticed, that I feel much better when I wear outfits that looks good with my hair even when it is just my natural semi-curls, which tends to look a bit "I rolled out of bed"-osh worn loose or in a bun or ponytail. Wearing outfits that calls for me straithening my hair or wearing more makeup than just the basics, I tend to feel not so put-together and than makes me feel insecure. I think that is why I prefer more casual outfits ATM. Does that make sense?

^Completely;)

I actually wear that rust colored dress a lot. Whenever the weather (and wind - I don't want a Marilyn Monroe moment) allows it. I've spilled chocolate ice cream on it so many times, but it always washes out when I use "Nylon vask - vidundermiddel for vinduer" on the stain:D

Good! I really find that I need clothes that I can just put on and feel great wearing.

Great thing about your dress - but then which one is it that you are not wearing?

If any of my clothes demanded a particular hairstyle, they'd be in biiig trouble ;)

^Hahaha!

The ones hidden away in boxes:innocent: I have a lot of below the knee summer dresses from Noa Noa that are very beautiful, but they are so precious-looking they hardly get any wear. I just don't dress up that much. They are perfect for semi-formal summer parties/dinners - they look just right next to wild flowers in bloom - but there are very few of those occations:/ I wear them so little I have taken them out of my wardrobe, stored them well, and mentally labelled the box "For my daughters to inherit".

@Ta-ta: good words to live by ;) I just feel like that certain outfits (like the ones I used to wear) calls for more "dressy" hair than my natural do - my hair is very wild and big, especially when it has the lengt it has at this point.

@Eizhowa: I was actually thinking about the Vanessa Bruno dress you said you had not worn yet? The black one with the knot detail in the front?

I really understand what you mean though. I used to dress up a lot for dinners, now that I do not I have a lot of dresses that are just boxed in my attic.
