I'm glad to see Angelina got a nomination for Changeling because honestly, she was amazing. Although no nomination for Clint for Director?

Unfortunately, alot of these films aren't out in England yet but I'm looking forward to Frost/Nixon and Milk.

Heath Ledger!

Edit: Wait, some of those movies aren't even out yet? I assume premiering works

Very happy about most of them getting the noms, Streep and Winslet my favorite of the year along with the superb KST whom i would give the statue to in the end.^_^

I'm so ecstatic that Tom Cruise got a nomination. People have been so down on him, hating for no reason and it seems he can't do right no matter what he does. So this is a nice little piece of good news for him. He was so awesome in Tropic Thunder, stole the show for me (although Downey Jr was great too). I don't think this is going to go any further, so no Oscar nomination, but it's just a nice little surprise as is.

I'm one of those few believers that although Tom Cruise may seem insane at times, he's a good, talented man at heart.

 I'm such a sap.

When are the awards held?
January 11

I have yet to see most of the films. So I can't say they deserve it or not. But glad to see Slumdog Millionaire, Robert Downey Jr, and In Bruges nominated.

I completly second that, i will always love him as an actor, and even though some antics were a bit out there, i think he gets way to much undeserved hate, so this is great.

michael c. hall really has to win. i mean house is great but it's time for a change. go dexter!

I am excited! There are many good films this year.

Strong competition in several categories, especially in the best performance by an actor/actress in a motion picture. I hope Sean Penn win. Angelina is not that good in Changling. She was better in Mighty Heart.

Speaking of Tom Cruise, I love him in Magnolia.

^^OMG i lovee that movie, one of his best roles imo.

Oh man yes, pleasee Dexter deserves it this year. And i hope that January Jones wins.

i am bummed...
i am totally and utterly bummed..
Keira didnt even get not one nom ...wtf???

thank God, at least my spirit was lifted for Brad and Angelina!!! :buzz:

^^Keira didnt stand a chance this year with such competition.

Anyone have an idea when the Oscar noms are announced?

Most of these don't hit UK screens for a while. I've not seen most of them yet but I hope to remedy that very soon.

I saw Frost/Nixon last night and it's probably Ron Howard's best film. The script is excellent, Sheen does well and Langella is definitely deserving of his nom.

I've seen The Dark Knight. Good but will it win outside of technical noms? The only other one I've seen is In Bruges which was fun but I'm not sure about it winning anything.

Blah at Mamma Mia. :yuk: Not my thing at all. It's now the highest grossing film of all time at the UK box office!

TV-wise I hope Dexter and Mad Men win. Still not had the second seasons her yet.

They nominated everyone from VCB but Scarlett...I love her, she's a darling, but she needs to work on her actual acting skills.
Keeping fingers crossed for Kate and Amy. They so deserve it, they are two of the best actresses out there.
