The 2024 Cannes Film Festival is set to kick-off today, running May 14-25! :magic:

Here's a live stream, set to commence 04:15pm BST:

Highlights from day one with Léa Seydoux, Meryl Streep, Juliette Binoche, Jane Fonda, Taylor Hill and others:

Highlights from day two with Anya Taylor-Joy, Naomi Campbell. Greta Gerwig, Eva Green and others:

Sasha Luss looked beautiful, I also liked Emmanuelle Béart but she needs to do something with botched lips.

Excited to see what the amfAR girlies wear when they go up for auction at *cough* er I mean attend the Cannes gala on the 23rd! :P

^ omg your spoiler..
I also liked Emmanuelle Béart but she needs to do something with botched lips.
I think there’s seriously nothing you can do with the fillers from back then. I read an interview with Gelsey Kirkland (who was always beautiful and still is but her lips are a complete disaster) and apparently it’s non-removable, non-adjustable so incompatible with the sagging of the skin due to aging. So sad. I think we all take youth for granted and downplay just how unforgiving and non-discriminatory the aging process is... unless you're Isabelle Huppert of course (just saw her grwm video for Vogue France and her skin ✨.. 😦).

Anya Taylor Joy looks wonderful 💛. I've read comments here and there criticising the hat she's been wearing and how 'over the top' she's looked but that decadent style of glamour goes with Cannes, and it's a place that very much celebrates excess and even escort/oligarch levels of vulgarity so how does that get a pass but someone serving Hollywood-for-dummies is 'too much'.. smh.

Yes, I think she got her lips done decades ago, when the methods weren't really reversible.

I wonder if she would've been as 'inspired' to get the procedure if she hadn't been working in Hollywood for a short while.

^ Probably! she got main roles in France after her one romcom in the US in the late 80s but she was elevated to bombshell and given the biggest and most memorable roles of her career once she 'enhanced' her beauty so to speak. It seems she got lip injections for L'Enfer, and ngl, I remember seeing that movie for the first time years later and thinking she was one of the most beautiful women I had ever seen (genetically but also her style of acting, always intense but also quiet and mysterious). I've learned since then that whenever I have that reaction of 'oh WOW.. wait, WHAT?' (lol) 99.99% of the time cosmetic work is involved at least in a small dose. It can take great, existing features to bombastic levels and you get that same reaction and can't get enough as a viewer, but sadly, that theatricality remains when the face cannot sustain it anymore.

*edit: also lol, just want to clear up that I know Isabelle has gotten work done too. I was talking about that video with a friend and she's like 'that woman is DROWNING in botox'.. she is NOT 😅 but what I mean is that whatever she has done, she did it in the right dose. She's 70 and looks 70 and so good!

I think she started getting injections long before L'Enfer, the work was much more subtle but you could still notice there was something off. She was one of the most beautiful french actresses and her natural lips were already full.

^ I just looked up 'Emanuelle Beart 1985'.. you're right 😶‍🌫️

Its seems Greta Gerwig is now a full Chanel ambassador if they are making custom couture dresses for her.

I'll be honest, I lost interest in this, but just saw Bella Hadid is there and now I'm watching like a hawk! she always delivers.

Yikes. Natasha Poly looks so tacky.
Yeah, I won't even get into the shoes but that Alaia is just so so bad.. it gives her zero structure and hangs on her when it should do the opposite.. instead of making her look sexy, it makes her look like she has the blandest body type ever (which she kind of does, but she also can pull most things off cause.. model).

Also, models always raise the bar at Cannes and Natasha Poly has been a highlight in the past (never forget that metallic number in 2009 ✨) but it seems they're in a bit of a broken record phase rotating the same models from a decade ago for several years now (Natasha, Anja, Romee, Natasha, Anja..). They should invite the established catwalk stars of today: Vittoria, Imaan, Rianne, Yasmin. Keep things a bit more fresh!

Highlights from day six with Sienna Miller, Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu, Isabelle Huppert, Anja Rubik, Camille Rowe, Natasha Poly, Julianne Moore, Abbey Lee Kershaw and others:
