The 97th Academy Awards (Oscars 2025)

I often say "no one looks good in yellow," but then here he comes...
The most beautiful stick of butter

I'm actually surprised by how good most of the attendees look. Hollywood has delivered some pretty insipid shows in the past decade, even the red carpet for this is still giving 2021 (whatever happened to the traditional long red carpet under the LA sun..?) and celebrities have been playing it super safe.. they still are but they all look more elegant this year. Margaret, Scarlett, Halle, Ana de Armas, Lupita.. they all looked gorgeous 🖤...

Ariana on the other hand, what a disaster.. it's the kind of look everyone will be like 'whyyyy' ten years from now.. like girl why are your eyebrows a triangle?! why did you draw an orange circle around your face and made the center of the circle 20 shades lighter, what is that even for? and what's the point of intentionally making your eyes as small as possible? and the way she holds on to that makeup style like nothing else will work as 'good' on her face... so intriguing lol.

Also, why is Michael Jackson's daughter invited everywhere? she always looks like she had to interrupt rehab to attend the events and is in a bad mood/suffering but trying her best to keep it together, not to mention her 'style' is nonexistent.

^ sometimes the nomination IS the award

Most people looked good. No one truly gagged me, though. The men mostly bored me. Coleman Domingo being an exception.

poor Zoe had to wear that godawful dress (my least favorite out of everyone!) and Cynthia was similarly done dirty by her contractual obligations. Didn’t care for Kylie’s look either. Or Timothee’s.

Crazy that Christian Siriano was responsible both for Halle Berry’s gorgeous look and for Whoopi’s…. look.

The Oscar is a compensation prize for pictures of that dress lasting forever on the internet.

If you have a lot to prove, the red carpet is probably an opportunity to make a fashion statement, but other people will want their outfit to play a supporting role, with them - the person - as the main focus.

And someone who's been around for decades might realise the wisdom of dressing in a more timeless way, knowing those photos follow you around for the rest of your career. But it does mean there's not much excitement for anyone watching on the night.

A lot of people looked lovely, but nothing rocked my world.

A lot of men wearing brooches. The joy of jewellery should be for everyone to share in.

My thought exactly. Whoopi's look is like a metallic coup d’état, while Halle's silhouette is sublime. The sleek line from the bust down to the train is a masterstroke!

Timmy is in Sarah Burton's debut menswear collection for Givenchy, not Tom Ford's debut by HA. I guess LVMH pays a lot more.

No coup de coeur fashion wise, but I liked Monica Barbaro in Dior as well as Mikey's winning look (after a run of honestly quite underwhelming looks this season). Chanel didn't do too bad with Margaret, Lupita, Fernanda Torres. Coralie Fargeat also looked great in vintage Versace, I love a director who's not afraid to look hot. Demi girl, you need a haircut, hairbrush and hairstylist.
