The Oscars is the one event where all I want to see is a classic look done well.

There are hundreds of other events where people can go crazy with what they're wearing (or baring) for fleeting attention on the internet.

But if you're in the running to win an award, you probably want to be pictured wearing something fairly safe that puts the focus on your achievement - and that people can look back at in ten or twenty years time without ridiculing you.

You don't want to go down in the history books for being a joke, Björk barely got away with that, and only because she's been consistent over decades with her eclectic approach to everything.

As usual, the VF party looks are way better, although I hate the new grey backdrop/location.

Connor Storrie and Hudson Williams
OK, these two are quickly venturing into "overexposed" territory, if they haven't done so already. Sure, these outfits work at the VMA's or p*rno awards, but it's the Academy Awards for Christ's sake...put a suit on, gurls.

(Big laugh of the night: The Roach's new wig. Cringe!)

I echo the sentiment in this thread. "Grotesque" is a good way of putting it. Mostly everyone looks tacky, vulgar, desperate, try-hard, etc.

i've been wondering about this all day... i think this over-the-top decandence is alienating the general public to a certain degree, me included. the idea of red carpet glamour has evolved into something that's so unattainable and blatantly fabricated and so excessive, that the days when certain people wore looks that were memorable seems bygone. which is ironic given the potential decline of hollywood in the modern era of entertainment, no?

^ lol I hadn't seen Carmen Electra in like 15 years, I know she's at the Philipp Plein party for a reason but girl what's going on.... 😬

Bella Hadid's look is hands down my favorite look of the night. She looked beautiful and elegant and effortless, so over people trying to do something dramatic for the VF party..

Yikes everything They say about her is true

It wasn't asked by anyone on thread but I will tell you who she is wearing...

CHROME HEARTS.

(Gap and Chrome Hearts at Oscars... i cannot handle this well.)
