I don't think it causes acne AT ALL. I don't know where people came up with such a thing. If it did cause acne, my face would be full of pimples. I barely get any

Your skin is the largest organ in your body. As with your heart, liver, kidneys, what you eat DOES have its effect. Even though there is no link between certain foods that cause acne, not getting the essential nutrients your body needs, will be a contributing factor. But I think whether or not you get acne boils down to your genetics. :flower:

there's definetely a link there. i don't break out after eating junky but my skin does get more oily afterwards.

For a lot of people, I think there's definitely a link. Doctors won't admit it, but it's maybe some kind of conspiracy...

I looked into it, and people that acutally saw results said that they were minimal and not worth the money. Wait till they perfect it.

I think that it depends entirely on the person. I definitely notice the difference when I don't sleep enough, feel quite stressed, don't drink enough water, have pms, don't get enough exercise...or eat badly. Food may not cause obvious breakouts for me like pms does, but it certainly affects my skin's overall health and appearance.

I think that it all depends upon the person as well as other factors (ie, did you eat junk because you were extra stressed, too).

AHHHHHH I HATE HIVESSSS
i got them soooo much during the summer.

Depends on the person. Everybody is individual. But I think most people can notice a visible difference if they eat funk food over a long period. One thing is that if you eat funk food you usually drink soda. There is coffeine in soda which dehydrates the skin. I eat chocolate - but only high-quality chocolate and I drink water to it.

FUNK FOOD??! nice spelling mistake

Hi Impossiblepricess,

I was going to answer your question but I guess you found that it works!!!! Good for you!!!!

I am not sure if I am spelling the name right but I believe it is called mederma? My sister uses it for her acne scars and she said it works miracles. I believe you can get it at Walgreens. I think it is $27.00 per tube. Good Luck!

Oh wow, now I'm curious about the shea butter too... so you use it locally, on the spot marks, or in the face (all)?

I use it on my face and my body... all over.. it helps to reduce the inflammation for my pimples(at least for my case, and I can't speak for everyone!)...

Also..great for winter

Is there a certain brand that is good or just any 100% shea butter from the drug store?

the one I use has no brand but you have to make sure it is 100% pure african shea butter and unrefined as Theory points out.

That's what I got and works for me!!! :brows:

LOL. I made a topic on Cocoa Butter / Shea Butter a while back. This stuff does wonders for skin. For those of you who asked where you can get it try Wal-Marts or an Africian Beauty Store. I found out about this stuff when I was in grade 8 and all the girls in the locker room were using it for their dry skin. (my highschool was for the most part a "minority" school--everyone was black, asian, mexican...then white folks!)

I absoultely love this product. Although i didn't know it worked for ezema. (spell?) I will have to pass that tidbit on to someone else.

I have a huge scar post op on my chest and I was using pure vit. E lotion for a year and it rarely reduced the size of the scar. The Shea Butter has worked wonders. The scar went from being red and thick to a very light pink thin scar. If its not gone in a few years, I will remove it surgicially!

About 2 months ago, I started this new regimen which helped my clear 98% of my acne. And believe, I had really bad skin before. I've done EVERYTHING, used everyproduct, went to see gazillions of dermatologists, got prescribed everything (everything that's a level less strong than Accutane) and never got it right. :(

So here's the regimen:
- Wash your face 3 times your face with the PINK Dove soap bar (extremely cheap) (In the past I've tried ALL cleansers from Neutrogena, L'Oreal, Clean and Clear, Clearasil, Oxy, Clinique, Biotherm......)

- Only hydrate when needed (with Almay moisturizer for oily skin), which means that only hydrate before applying makeup when parts of your skin is just TOO dry

- During daytime, ONLY if needed, put on Almay skin clearing concealer on your acne (I used the medium shade) that contains 1% salysilyc acid.

- Eat a lot of fruits everyday (at least 2) I ate apples

- Skip the oily and sugary food away : I quit eating chocolate, oily food, chips, soft drinks.

- Drink 2 L of water everyday (4 bottles of Naya water) or more.

- DO NOT pop your zits

-When REALLY needed, use a scrub (no more than once a week), I used the Clinique rinse off one. But if you can, just slightly scrub your dead skin away under the shower.

-Avoid ANY kind of foundation, powder, blush and makeup anytime it's possible.

-At night, my derm prescribed me a treatment that's a mix of Solugel 8% and Clindamycin 0.45 and apply it on ALL your face the way you'd apply an anti wrinkle cream.

-Change your pillowcase as often as possible

-Keep your hair of your face, tie it up if possible.

Good luck. :flower:

that's awesome, kimkhuu, I'm happy for you :flower:

I'll print it and give it to my sister :P

What I meant is SLIGHTLY scrubbing your skin WITH YOUR HANDS under the shower to remove dead skin.
