I've been loving the Yves Rocher Anti-Imperfections moisturizer. It absorbs so quickly and I don't know if this is a placebo effect, but I *really* think it's helping fade my red marks. And it smells nice and herbally. AND it's non-comedogenic. The price is great too, around 10€ (probably even cheaper in other countries).

I've been on doxycycline antibiotics for the past 3 months and my skin has shown no improvement at all. My doctor said that it would be at least 3 months before I would see any improvement but the pessimist in me doesn't think that I will see much difference if I stay on them for another 3 months. Has anybody had any positive results on a different type of antibiotic?

^ My skin broke out back in October and considering I've almost always had good skin I freaked out. Tried the usual - no makeup, gentle skincare, dietary changes - nothing worked. Earlier this month I went to my GP and was prescribed Clindoxyl which contains Clindamycin (an antibiotic) and my skin is almost clear with the exception of a few tiny closed comedones on my forehead and I have a bit of hyperpigmentation on my chin but I'm using an AHA gel to deal with that. I saw results in 2 weeks .

I personally did not have much improvement with doxycycline either, even after being on it months. I have tried minocycline with some more positive results. I know they are both commonly prescribed, and my doctor always made it seem that minocycline was slightly stronger and put me on that once a course of the doxycycline had minimal effect.

Honestly though, I have yet to find an antibiotic that actually clears completely. I haven't heard of Clindoxyl that sounds promising, Party_Vixen!

I've been put on doxycyline for another 3 months but also given differin. Has anybody had any experience of it? I've been on it for 4 days now and my skin is so dry.

As far as topical treatments go I think Differin is pretty good. I have always found retinoid-like treatments to be pretty successful with acne. Although when I was on it I had to be really careful because it made my skin really sensitive and the dryness remained for me throughout. I did experience an initial breakout with it but it went away.

Good luck on it! I think the Differin should help some, just be sure to pamper your skin while on it!

Quitting the pill - crazy hormones/acne

I stopped taking the pill about 4 months ago and my skin's been horrible, like I'm 15 again. I wanted to know if any of you have done the same, and especially if your skin went back to normal once your cycle did go back to normal.
It's silly because I know how to treat it and I can cover it up, but it makes me as insecure as a 15-year-old and I'd like to not have to worry about my skin

Anyone have any recommendations for a good facial cleanser? I have combination skin (dry and oily) and mild breakouts, but I prefer to use something strong because my skin tends to breakout fairly easy.

I've been using the Mario Badescu cleanser for a while now, but feel like it's not really doing its job anymore. I'd prefer something not too expensive. Thank you for any and all help

^^Avene Gentle Gel Cleanser! I know it's gentle, but you could use La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo afterwards? I think that would be a great combo. Have you considered using micellar cleansing waters? I find the one from Avene particulary good for problematic skin.

cetaphil - the oily skin one is good if you want one a bit "stronger" but I use the dry skin one with my clarisonic a bit more gentle as I have dry skin

I swear to Grandma's Soap Acne Control Bar. There is nothing better for acne prone skin, it made a hude difference for me. It cleanses my makeup perfectly too.

I've never heard of cleansing waters from Avene but I'll be sure to look into it, as I will with all the other suggestions. Thank you all so much

Definitely Avene products along with thermal water! I use Avene Cleanance (green color and there is nothing better. Sometimes I switch to SebaMed Clear Face.

The differin cream is working, but it is still killing my top lip. Even though I'm not applying it anywhere near my lip, it is drying it out and stays like that for a good 2 weeks peeling off. Any other cream recommendations that I can ask my doctor for?

I've been on Tretinoin and now I'm on Epiduo which has Adapalene (Differin). Both medications make my skin dry too. What I found really works is Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream for dry skin. In the morning after washing off the Epiduo I apply this stuff and it prevents my face from drying out. Try it out and see if it works for you.

P.S. If you're going outside mix it with sunscreen as it doesn't have SPF. Let me know what you decide!

put some aquaphor on your upper lip area (the jar for skin not the kind for lips). it should clear it up completely in 2 days.

What are people's thoughts on coconut oil (organic)? Someone on Tumblr recommended it to me and told it does wonders to his skin.
