First I want to say a big thank you to the people who helped me with the eye shadow problem, i'm now using brown based eyeliner and green based eyeshadows and its working a treat!

I have a big problem though. It started around march time, when i got a diagonal line of 5 skin coloured bumps on my forehead, small pimple size. They had no centre, but my friend informed me that they were raised blackheads. those lumps took a long time to clear up, and I confess I squeezed a few, they had a cheesy substance coming out of them.

However, soon there was a problem. The lumps kept appearing on my forehead, again not zits, just ordinary flesh colour. Sometimes they would get infected, and although they still wouldnt have a head to them, they would be painful to the touch. Usually around them, they would have a few ordinary blackheads. I tried treatments. I tried vitamin E, I tried using no products at all! I tried proactiv....I tried clearasil, simple, chamomile, witch doctor. To no avail.

The problem got worse and worse, it got to the stage where I would rather have scars on my forehead than lumps. So I squeezed. Nobody would help me, I went to thalasso therapy, which caused more problems than before. My friends made me feel worse by throwing off the old comment "oh your skin is fine". Nobody would help me.

But , that was just for vanity. Now I have a really big problem. I woke up a few days ago to find an infected lump on my forehead, something I haven't had for a while (although I have had lots of ordinary blackheads). Today I woke up, and the lump was a size of a golfball. It felt like somebody was chiselling into my head with a hot poker. I couldn't find any solutions, but did order some unrefined african shea butter after a friend suggested it would reduce the swelling.

I admit..I punctured the skin around the area. The thing is, there is no pus. None. Its spreading to the whole right side of my forehead. Not only that but the number of blackheads on my forehead, not just ordinary ones but raised ones has tripled since this happened.

I do everything by the book, I drink a LOT of water every day, I try and eat oily fish, and If I can't I have a cod liver oil tablet. I keep my hair off my forehead. I eat fresh fruit. Also another thing, lately my skin has felt very clammy, and I get hot flushes. When I say it feels clammy, I mean, not to the touch, but when i'm sitting here, I get a hot flush and it feels to me as if my whole face is slimey.

Please can somebody suggest what is going on, I can't afford my local dermatologist, I don't have time to book an appointment on the NHS. I know I shouldn't care about my appearance, before it was vanity I admit, it was an obsessive compulsive thing, I used to be the one with the great skin, i'm 19 now and I feel so ashamed to have this happening to me now. But it has gone beyond appearance now....its just painful.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated...i don't even feel like going outside anymore, I haven't for a while but especially now.

 That sounds really frightening!
Although you said that you can't afford a dermatologist, even go in to your family doctor. Before it gets any worse... :ninja:

I agree with purple but if you still won't go I sugest picking up a bottle of Witch Hazel at about any store ( wal-mart carries it too ). And use it as a astringent. Wash your face with dove bar soap (the pink kind). And whatever you do don't touch your face alot. It sounds more serious then the normal breakouts so I would go to a doctor or go to a spa (and get a facial). Just my advice

I can only imagine how this makes you feel. It seems like you know your stuff when it comes to preventing breakouts. Drinking and eating the way you do makes a huge difference inside and out (even if it doesn't seem like it) because your body will be able to heal the areas on your forehead alot better when it its properly hydrated and so on. However, since you have followed all the rules so faithfully and the problem still exists, it's obvious that you need proffessional help. I would go to a doctor as soon as possible. If you feel the person you see doesn't seem concerned or adresses your needs, then go to another one! Even a third or fourth opinion is good. I once had a skin problem ( no where like yours) and my doctor just brushed it off. It got way worse after until I went to another one and he gave me all this information and help- you know what? The problem really cleared up. Also I wouldn't pick at the areas anymore- It's tempting for everyone but it can lead to infection and slow/interfere with the healing process. I wish you best of luck with this and hope you find some relief soon.
Emilie.

Thanks guys.....your support means a lot. I'm working a few extra days now to earn the money to pay for a local specialist, since the problem hasn't gone away, and I bought witch hazel. Great smell...mm...

Good luck to you, I really hope that it clears up soon.

yeah good luck! Sounds like you're doing the right thing (getting money to pay for a specialist) and meanwhile using witch hazel it's great stuff! Although the smell isn't too great

I agree with the dermatologist suggestion. I have reaallllyyyy problematic skin and I've done more harm than good by buying a bunch of products.
If, for whatever reason, you can't see your derm soon, I recommend using a salicylic acid cleanser in the morning and evening, and a GOOD benzoyl peroxide (not stronger than 5% though), something like persa-gel, before you go to sleep. Tea tree oil diluted with water can be some help as well.

I know how you feel and I wish you the best of luck.

okay I've heard about the tea tree oil.. How exactly does it work? Do you put it on your skin or what? And how does it help?! Just curious!

You have to get 100% natural tea tree oil and remember to DILUTE it with water or it will burn your skin! 4 tea-spoons of water and one drop of tea tree oil will do the trick mixed together.
It just dries up the zit/problem area faster.

I"m not a dermatologist but I think what you have is cystic acne.

I used to suffer from it, on my chin. I would get semi double chin, because of that weird swelling. The pain was unbearable. I believe I took asprin for that pain. I had to go to the doctor and he prescribed me Retin-A. It seemed to work for awhile.

Try also switiching to a basic cleanser, like Cetaphil and use mineral makeup only.

Tea tree oil is good, esp. if it has peppermint.> A facialist gave me this hint, and it's helped me since, (ESP..for the pain)

Don't eat alot of greasy, salty, sweet foods too.(chocolate, potato chips) I don't care what anyone says, it wreaks havoc on my face.

They look like regular whiteheads, raised pink bumps. but everything I have tried won't make them disappear.

ANything out there, guranteed to work?

I have combination skin..Oily on T-zone, and normal on cheeks. It's also fairly sensitive...and any Neutrogena products are a no no..

Anyone?

I get that too, it drives me insane. I did go to see somebody about it recently, they told me that my stress levels were far too high, which was causing a lot of problems. They reccommended a soap which is free of artificial products, or any dairy or animal produce, so I bought some Cioccalatino soap from the local shop (its made locally by a lady from Ghana called Akua Wood, it has Avocado Oil, Shea Butter and uh..something else, either way its suitable for sensitive skin as its technically baby soap). Then a moisturiser which didn't have any artificial oils too, which ruled out my garnier, so again i'm on the unrefined shea butter. I haven't finished doing a run through yet, since I only got the products today.......but i'll let you know how it goes....

I know this sounds cliche but don't squeeze them..I used to say to myself "i'd rather have a scar than this lump".....and it was rather obsessive compulsive, I just had to squeeze, I couldn't stand having a lump there..but then it spread and got worse, and not only that but the scars don't really cover with foundation and make my skin dry and sensitive.

Well luckily.......that lump on my forehead has been a one off, even though it made the whole of my face swell, well forehead anyway. Now i'm just left with the scar, witch hazel did help reduce the swelling and redness, and now like I said in your post, i'm trying the shea and cioccalatino soap. : >

Oily forehead? Do you have bangs? Both of those cause them. . I used to have them when I had bangs

so a *virgin* soap..I'll be on the lookout. Thanks.

Yeah I had bangs, that's why I stopped putting them down. But they still won't go away.

Oooh. I get those too. It's so annoying! I get it cause I work out and I have combination skin with the t-zone areas. I haven't worked out at the gym for like a week, and I don't have that many. I just have to be make sure I wash my face every morning and night or after the gym.

i also had that. i had no choice but to see a dermatologist.

What about the hair products you're using?
i tend to get bumps based on what hair products are using. Right now i've got bumps from Sebastian wax. Also got it from several drugstore brands too.
i don't have long bangs either, but a couple of short chunks.

(The only wax i didn't get bumps from was: Paul Mitchell dry wax and any KMS hairplay products.)

Also... do you sleep face-down sometime during the night? Could be your pillow cover.
