The Acne Thread

Food really doesn't affect it. I've eaten healthy, I've eaten unhealthy, and both times I had terrible acne.

To get rid of mine I've gotten facials. Don't pick at your pimples. Also, while drying out your pimples is good, don't dry them out too much! If you dry your face out too much the sebum will just get trapped under layers of dead skin. Only put drying things on once a day. Use cleansers.

And always use moisturiser after u do dry them out because if you dry your whole face out your skin makes it's own oils and feeds the pimples... And they just stay there

the pill is always a great help too, for those hormonal zits.

mint julip mask on the spot overnight for a few nights usually gets rid of them for me.

Yep! Works amazing for scarring, and just in general skin all over. Really an amazing product. It's my "creme de la mer" miracle. There are so many different uses for it - google it. Just be sure to get the 100% pure unrefined. I've seen it being sold on eBay. It's truly a great product.

Is there anything you can do about hormonal zits? I'm 24 and I still can't seem to escape the zits that pop up on my chin-and they are always the single, large swollen painful ones. I thought for sure I would have outgrown this a long time ago but no dice :yuk:

I mentioned exercise, right? It works wonders. Also, my doctor (regular, not dermatologist) prescribed BenzaClin topical gel because I had spots on my back for a while and it helps. One jar has lasted for a while, although I don't know how much it costs. Since it counts as medicine, though, I think insurance covers it. Maybe you could ask your doctor for something at your next checkup?

I get facials too! I was getting them regulary but got too busy but now I'm back to it! And let me tell you they can work wonders on your skin! You see the surface things but they can see what's coming it's amazing.. Yeah and see some people aren't affected by food... But lately even the thought of some foods makes me wanna hurl! It's terrible! But I guess it's good

Anyone knows if that works? :innocent:

Anyway, we'll all know tomorrow, I am putting that on my pimples and I am going to sleep. We'll see what happens tomorrow when I wake up. Apparently, it sucks all the impurities. Hopefully it'll suck the pimple as well!

what is kaolin clay? I'm using Natures Cure right now it's a pill/cream combo and so far it's working great I've only used it for umm 5 days I think! Oh and it's super cheap ($10) and lasts a month! I had heard about it and read about it online www.naturescure.com and then I was at wal-mart and saw it so I decided to buy it (they have it for women and men)

Did absolutely nothing. I even had a few extra pimples this morning (they showed up under the clay).

But actually this afternoon, after taking off my makeup, I realised that most of my pimples were dry. Not sure if it has to do with the clay though.

Kaolin clay is also called white clay if I am not mistaken. Mine is blue  .

I'll post a picture of the bottle later on (pretty cheap 3 bucks)....

I am having a "clay mask" in 2 minutes, after I wash off my medicated scrub. :flower:

There's always these people saying that drinking 8 glasses of water really helps the condition of your acne. Tried this for 2 weeks before and never worked, maybe because I wasn't patient enough.

Anyone knows if it's true?

I usually drink from 6 to 8 glasses of water a day and I can tell you I noticed no difference on my skin. Only my tummy looks - and feels - a bit bloated. :ninja: It's good for your health in general though.

You might try tea. I can't confirm that it works, but some say it does and it's always been good to me.

when i modeled as a child, the makeup artist i always worked with swore up and down that water was the reason for her flawless skin. i've heard from some people that it works, while some others say that it doesn't, but i have heard that it takes a long time for it to kick in, like 3 months. as for tea, i've heard green tea is good for your skin but any kind that has sugar in it it could aggravate acne. who knows?

it helps your skin look nicer, but wont resolve the acne problems...personally, I used all kinds of tricks and medicines to solve my skin problems, and honestly the only thing that really worked (and wich i'm still on) is a substance called Isotretinoin (Accutane in the US but I'm not sure) but the side effects are really strong, your lips get severly cracked, your skin gets really dry...so drinking loads of water help to soothe these unpleasant effects...

i drink 3 L of water a day and my skin still isnt perfect

some good tips are.........first thing in the morning.......drink a BIG cup of hot water (this starts your digestion for the day)
and also drink a big cup of tomato and basil soup (i drink the stuff from knor (i think thats how its spelt) and that has loads of fibre in it which is also good

Kaolin Clay does work as a mask, but not so much as a spot treatment. Depending on your skin type/ailment, you can use the pure red, white or green. I think white is for dry skin. I have red and green. Frankly I don't think it does anything special except pull my skin so tight my head hurts lol. I use it as a part of my weekly at home facial and it does make my skin feel cleaner and dries out some acne, but it's not a holy grail product...HTH
